Heh heh. It's been further modified. Want me to go get some updated pics? :D

We've now removed the passenger side lower A-pillar for.. uhh.. more clearance, and sawzalled off most of the hood and front clip for.. uhh.. engine/tranny-removal clearance..

It's shoved up on the berm next to the irrigation ditch on the rear corner of my friend's property, waiting for DiamondDave to come drag the remains home and make room for me to bring in some more of MY junk instead of his. :D

Another method for 'modifying' your Scout.

According to the latest issue of Petersen's 4 Wheel and Offroad this is a 1976 Scout II - Modified....

Yeah whatever....

I bootlegged the pic from SunRay Engineerings website - they are the ones that put this "Scout" together.

Is the 800 going missionary on the SII, or is it tryin' to just hump it's leg?

I dont give a hoot if theyre from Texas, There is hardly any scout II left in the new Petersons Issue, Yes its baddazz, But it looks just like a total custom rig, I dont know any IHC owner who would see that and say "Wow thats a 76 Scout II" Petersons has failed me today, I think ill burn all my issues and buy a Yugo:flipoff2:

It is not a scout, he had a scout with vin # and title, then he got a sniper, performed a vin # conversion along with a title swap and called it a scout.

Yeah the roop top carrier the "Scout" was running was awesome although I think it would have looked better on a 1970's Plymouth Volarie Station Wagon with the wood trim and the extened trailer mirrors....

He spends $20,000+ on a Sniper and then 'splurges' for the $49.99 Walmart luggarge carrier! I love it. Genius even...

DK. Sure see an awful lot of bought rigs that really wheel well up here....

I wouldn't own one, but they are out there.

What's this "we" sh!t newbie. How do you know they can't fix it. I'll tell you right now that I would trade my pos for that sniper scout in a heartbeat, would that mean that I would be magically transported back to a time when I didn't know how to change an axle shaft?

Attention:

All of you fawkin newbies STFU, this ain't Chit Chat, take your incoherent ramblings somewhere else.

Yadda Yadda Yadda,

Aw, the point of the the conversation kinda boils down to this...

Scouts are not Jeeps. Sure you could bolt that mail-order jeep shit on your Scout, but it's gonna look phunky. But if you are into that Iron Horse shit, more power to you. Make sure you order the big double chrome bolts though.

Seriously though, get a torch, and a decent welder. Make your shit, and be happy. Paint covers most phuck ups anyhow!

Ok hayraker, look At your truck your building. Do you not get some sastification from building it your self? DO you believe that you know more about your scout because you built it your self?!
I should certainly hope so. Yes over time anyone can get to know any vehicle well enough to change a axle or whatever. but I firmly believe that its because of the work that was put into it. A perfect example is the Nice lifted trucks that never go off road and the driver doesnt even know how to lock the hubs and put it in 4. (IVE SEEN THIS NO JOKE) Where as I built my scout no its not the best out there it doesnt have rear steer or beadlock self inflating tires or any of that nice crap, but I do know every sound my truck makes while going down the road and every thing that accompinys it.

Okay I am game, I will play the devils advocate,

So let me say this, a persons ability to do certain tasks during certain conditions(changing a U-joint on a trail in the rain and mud) means nothing in relationship to what they drive. As a shop owner i get all 3 kinds of customers. I get the do it your selfers, i get the I would rather have a professional do it I cants, and I get the I used to have time to do it all myself but now i donts.

What i am trying to say here is just because someone buys a rig does not mean they dont know anything, or they dont know what went in the rig. Some owners of bought rigs are fully involved in creating something awsome like the sunray "Scout". They plan, detail out, spec everything but just do not have certain skills required to finish the job, or they have all the skils and no time because as they got older, they moved up the corporate ladder and have a position that leaves then not much time but tons of money. They could very well be capable and competent enough and lack the motivation. Another aspect is they may be disabled and unable to do the building themselves. So all you out there saying these guys are lame, or pussies, or whatever shut up!!

If i had tons of money, you bet i would have a sniper, a Scorpion, and probley a Assissin to boot just to play around on at my 500 acres in Colorado. I could have my buds over and we all could go play follow the leader. It would be neat to have different rigs to play with rather than the same old piece...(Kinda sounds like i am talking about Poon here hahaha). So before you go bashing some guy that flys to China every week for business and has no spare time, get the facts and never never make an assumption. My rule....Assumptions are the death of all things.

So go ahead and bash me when i have an Atlas case because I bought one rather than building my own. I will flip ya the bird and then drive over your rig :D

I tend to agree with the Fleckster --- "IF" I had enough money I would have some pretty sweet "store bought" parts...

And just because someone paid to have there truck built - doesn't mean they may not have been able to build it themselves given enough time.

Well said, I agree!

maybe if I liquidate a bunch of parts I could afford an Atlas??
(not actually sure my parts are actually worth that much)

Scenario # 2: wife for hire!!
(that probably won't work either!?)
