View Full Version : BB down for a couple weeks

For those of us who visit the BB, as well as P4x4, BB will be down for a while. Here is the text of the message Bill sent me.

Qwest/USWest was hit hard by this latest "Nimda" virus/worm critter.

It's particularly nasty, because a system can become infected simply by
opening a web page -- you are NOT necessarily safe if you've merely avoided
opening suspicious e-mail attachments.

One of my servers was infected at about 7AM MDT on Tuesday, 9/18. I got my
systems cleaned up by about 1:30 AM this morning (9/19). But because of
the excessive traffic that this worm generates, Qwest has pulled the plug
on all of its DSL customers whose DSL hardware connects to the Qwest
network by "bridging" rather than by "routing" -- and this includes me.

Even though my systems are now clean, Qwest has completely discontinued my
"bridged" DSL service.

Coincidentally, I am in the process of moving to a new home, and in the
process of establishing new DSL service (of the newer, routed, PPP type) at
this new location.

In short, it looks like it might well take longer to restore the service
(and upgrade to the new routed type) at the old location -- longer than
simply waiting for the NEW service at the new location (which has already
been ordered) to be completed.

This regrettably *might* mean that the Binder Bulletin is simply out of
business for the next ten days.

And I have no way of letting folks know that, as my e-mail server and both
web servers are all off-line.

Feel free to pass this bit of news along as you see fit.

Regards,

Bill

Just take a look in the jeep board here on POR. It gets old fast and we would be out numbered!

Well lets get ready just in case we get flooded. Here's a few sample questions. Does anyone now what brand of buffing compound I need to detail the doorjams and underneath the hood of my Scout? Also does anyone know where I can find an 152, T90 combo? Some fool swapped out my original equiptment for a 392, wide ratio T19. I fear my chances on the concourse will be spoiled if my Scout isn't 100% original. Just practicing
Travis

P.S. Does anyone no where I can find NOS canooter valves, muffler bearings, and firewall gaskets? I've searched everywhere. My local parts store doesn't even carry IH blinker fluid.

Or the one from last night when Scoutman SV wanted to cut down a 3/4" TRE to 5/8" because he was too cheap to buy a new 35.00 tie rod. Come awn lets buy some thing beefy and modify it to make it weaker!

Josh C can handle all the Q's about Tie Rod polishing. I'll take the Q's about charging systems:
"Aw, I was winching a F-350 out of 4 feet of mud, my AMPY THINGY, was all the way to the left, then smoke came out of the dash, now my car won't start. Any ideas?"

Who's taking all the timing questions, and tire fitment Q's. Let's not forget the "will a 72 hardtop fit a 78?"

I'll take all the hard top questions, even though I don't have one, got a canvas tarp bungee'd to the cage, I think it will fit a 72 or a 78, I know it fits a 76

we've been sneaking in a little at a time all along. I came over to see if anyone could give me a part number for a chrome T-stat housing.

And Overkill, can I get blinker fluid for a 78 CJ and make it work in my IH?

Yeah it'll work but I wouldn't recomend it. If the judges at the Concourse d' Elegance find out it's not original IH blinker fluid they'll dock you 2 points. They'll ding you 2 points for the wiring too if you let the factory smoke out.

I guess I'll handle the tire fitment questions then. Does anyone know the BB translation for sawzall? . If we want to scare them off we can post a picture of my buddy's '71 800B rock crawler. It's a Scout tub sawzalled with no front clip on 36s with full widths. If that don't keep 'em at bay nothing will.

Darn, that's what I wanted.

Everytime someone says "With a 4" lift and an SOA will I be able to fit 35s?" I answer -

With NO lift you can fit 38" Boggers.. so I'm sure they'll clear with that much lift.

Then post a picture of Banshee.

I only have the sawzalled front.. but it's about time to do the rear tubs - after I fix my "driveline angle" problems by moving the drivetrain back n' down and replace the broken transfer case n' such.

Ah, too late, I'm here.

Actually I've been lurking (and trying to learn) for several months, the BB going down finally tipped the straw and got me to register

Tell me again why you're dumping Clyde, Joe.

Might just be best if you figured out what's up with the clutch n' kept it. With your "knack" for finding lemons.. if this one works, I'd just keep it!

You know we moved roundup forward two weeks, right? I suppose I should put it on the Calendar, so folks will get the date right.

Rusty, That puts it on the... 26th- 28th of July, right?

The main reason is I live at home. I'm forbidden from ever owning a 4x4 as long as I live here. and yeah, I an moving out ASAP

I "stripped" the scout, took out auto meter guages for the 800 i was supposed to get and the doors need to be re-installed properly, new w/s and install tranny.

Been thinking of finding a cheap 3 or 4 spd, rivit in front short floors, weld up holes from SSII inserts, and maybe a elchepo paint job. few other thing, such as gaskets are needed, but really the clutch/trans is the big one.

I'm keeping the wide tranny for next project.

I'm thinking once I get it running, I might look for a travelall to replace it. been thinking of making false floor in one, gear on bottom, sleep on top.

I paid $5400 about a year back, I'd think I can get at least $3K if it was fixed up.

Never noticed that about about the name and nickname, but you're right. naturellement, la plupart des personnes ne parlent pas francais
