: Fitting 44's. Get out the sawzall.
PJTPW 10-09-2002, 10:20 AM I've had a lot of people PM me for more pics so here you go.
Here's a pic of my finished front fender trim. The axle was in the factory location during this pic. Since then I have put 52" Chevy springs in the front which moved the axle was 2" forward.
At 2" forward the tires still hit the cab on compression with approx 4 1/2 - 5" of lift. I'm currently installing my D-60 and am redrilling the spring pads so it will be 3" forward from stock. With 44's I still think it will hit the cab. If it does I'll tub the cab.
FULLSIZE 10-09-2002, 10:26 AM more pics!!!
looks like it'll work. you get the doubler in there yet?:D
PJTPW 10-09-2002, 10:44 AM This is not my Dodge, but I saw in in Moab this past year over Easter Jeep Safari. I thought my fender trim was original, but obviously not. This guy had his cut identical to mine almost.
I really like the look of this Dodge. It's pretty basic and he was only running a 36" tire, but it looks good with the seriously trimmed fenders and no bed.
The pic sucks because I took it of an 8mm video cam. Didn't have my camera with me @ Potato Salad Hill.
PJTPW 10-09-2002, 10:55 AM Here's how the rear tires fit. I ditched the bed. The bed was shot. Tailgate wouldn't stay up. I was afraid one of the bedsides was going to fall off because it was cracking off at the seams.
PJTPW 10-09-2002, 11:01 AM Here's the interior or lack there of.
All I've got is a steering column, seat, and this mess of wires.
PJTPW 10-09-2002, 11:12 AM Here's an overview of it (prior to finishing the fender trim at the front of the fenders)
I have had the doubler in it to check for floor board fit and had to tub the center of the cab under the seat. It's not permanently installed. Just got my Trail Ready wheels last week so I have to get new tires soon. (16.5's) Didn't want to grind my calipers down on my new 60 after grinding off 5/16 of an inch on the D-44.
I have some new upper shackle bushing mounts fabricated that take 1.5" greaseable bushings that are in the truck now. They're huge compared to the factory 1" bushings. I'll get a full write up done on the 52" springs in the front with the new upper shackle bushings and custom shackles once I get a chance.
BTW the truck is now approx 12-13" shorter after removing the bed and cutting 9" off the rear frame. It's actually a long wheelbase of about 131" but looks a lot shorter with the bed off.

The Adam Blaster 10-09-2002, 12:22 PM Thanks for all the pics man, if anything, it gave me a chuckle to see all the choppin ya did. :D
FULLSIZE 10-10-2002, 06:12 PM damn that truck looks sick. a man after my own taste (with a sawzall that is). you gonna do a flatbed? i'd like to see some pics with 52" springs and the axle moved. sounds cool.
i plan to run the 6" front springs i have with the bottom leaf out and a 6" long shackle (1" lift) and then run 63" late model dodge or GM rear springs with a 10" long shackle mounted on a stock front mount like yours. probably not going to bob mine as i need a bed, plus its a short bed. alot shorter than 131"wb
tire plans have moved up from 44"tsl's to 395/85/20 michelins (46x15.1). then run some rockstomper 20" beadlocks. i like the idea of the shorter sidewall, more stability on sidehills;) not sure what i'm gonna do for sure about reduction but i think i like the idea of a 203/203/205 (wagoneer machine adapters). now i just need some $$$:D
FULLSIZE 10-11-2002, 07:47 PM never mind, TR 20" beadlocks are $399 a wheel:eek:
think i'm gonna stick with 44's and 15" wheels:D
GRMhick 10-11-2002, 09:04 PM or $285 a wheel for rock stompers. Wernt you looking at 38.5's insted because of the sidewall??

pistol45 10-12-2002, 12:07 AM noticed that you were wanting to run 52" tires but the 20" beadlocks were not in your price range. I have a solution for you. Im running the military 20" 3 piece style rims. they are just like hummer rims only in 20" diameter. I have only one set of complete rims left and they are not for sale, HOWEVER, I do have 2 extra sets of the rubber runflats and DANIEL on this board has the wheels for $85 each. I will sell the runflats for $60 each so for roughly $145 you could have a dual beadlock system. the only thing you need to do to run these rims is change the centers out. if you have more questions email here at home at

thats why i was concidering the 46" tall mich. tires with a 20" rim, less sidewall ;) i've seen a few fullsize trucks runnin 38's lately and they just didnt do so well. gotta have a bigger tire.

i'm gonna call daniel and see how much wheels with the custom centers would cost me.
FULLSIZE 10-25-2002, 02:13 PM thought i'd just bump this one back up. anyone else handy with the sawzall?:D
RufusTheRam 11-03-2002, 06:41 PM hey, that truck wasn't up in north carolina this weekend at uwharrie was it?? saw one roll by today that looked identical, grey, hawgs, cut frame, everything except it had a toolbox between the frame rails, a spare, and a high lift.
PJTPW 11-04-2002, 09:02 AM Wasn't mine. I've got the front axle out of it right now, so it's pretty much non-driveable.
