Anyone have a good source for 1/2" winch cable?
A buddy of mine has an EB with a PTO winch, and he's snapped his 5/16" cable several times in the past year... He recently relocated to Sicily, and had his rig shipped there, so a European connection would probably work best - though I'm not sure how hard it'll be to find someone over there... If not, I'm sure shipping over from the US wouldn't be too bad.
Thanks,
- Chris

Has he considered going with rope instad of steel? If so look up Rockstomper - the rope has a much higher strength than the steel.

I asked him already whether or not he's looked into synthetic rope... It might be an option, I'm not sure if it'd be more $$$ then he's looking to spend...

probably the more important question.. why is the cable snaping? is it piching? birds nesting? fraying? or just over loaded? why jump all the way up to 1/2" instead of up to 3/8?

keep in mind the size of the drum. 1/2" probably even 3/8" cable is not going to wrap right on a small drum. like the low profile Warn winches, etc.

I just talked to my buddy, turns out he's leaning more towards 3/8" than 1/2". Going with 3/8" will work fine for spooling; his 10,000 pound PTO winch is a beast, and I guess was originally spooled with 3/8"...
Synthetic rope is going to be too spendy for him for now.
