Anyone have a link or facts on the two? I've searched and can't drum up much on side by side info.
I'm going to be building a +/- 450hp 408W in the new car I'm building. I'm going to be running 89-93 MAF fuel injection. Trying to decide if the E4OD is worth building for the extra low range and OD.
Will the 89-93 MAF computer run the E4OD?
What is the difference in how much HP each trans pulls. I know the C6 is something like 50hp.
I've run a SB C6 behind my 325ish hp 351W for a few years now, no issues and I built it myself so I'm a little hesitant to change but I'd really like the OD for the new car.
The car will be desert raced and beat on pretty hard.
Will a well built 94-95 E4OD with all the updates hold that kind of power and live very long? Lots of cooling etc is obvious.

The E4OD is more expensive and more rare. The C6 is easy to find. The big advantage to the E4OD is obviosly the OD.

I'm not sure what power either are rated up to. If it were me, I'd stick with what I know works.

The E4OD is pretty much an updated C6 with overdrive on the back, when built, they are a good strong transmission, and you can build one far stronger than you can a C6 thanks to the diesel guys.
No, a MAF 'Stang computer isn't going to run one, you need to either play with a truck MAF setup(94-96) or run a standalone controller. The second one being preferrable as the truck computers aren't really well cracked.
If you don't need the OD, the planetaries from an E4OD work just fine in a C6, and will give you the same wide ratio setup.

The E4OD use torrington thrust bearings instead of washers, so they have a little less drag than the C6. The bearings can be retrofitted to a C6 as well.

you can put the planets in the C6 as well.
What the heck do you need overdrive for?
Just run the C6, it will be way cheaper to build.

the bling shit for the c6 isn't exactly *cheap*

I have the e4od 1st/2nd in my c6 with the torrington bearings, red eagle clutches, kolene steels, wide kevlar band, r-code servo, badass torque convertor, deep pan, blah blah blah and I'd love to tell you how it all works... but that's a long story :lmao: I now also have a full man reverse pattern valve body. There's over $2k just in parts in my c6 now...

The 4r100 (big brother to the e40d) in my PSD was a $4k+ trans with all the badass parts.

I think I still hate autos!
