Anyone have a source for these? Or have spare they would't mind parting with?

Sorry, I need the take down detent

Do you have the spring? I have used a piece of a nail before, just clip it till it works good and round the tip off.

Sounds like a perfect time to start stocking spare parts, it's a good idea to have some anyway.

Any time I order something gun related, I tack on a few small parts to the order, gas rings, cam pin, firing pin retainer, detents, springs, whatever. One or two here and there, and before you know it you have a well stocked kit of spares for when you lose/break something.

Hell, if you get lucky, you'll amass enough that with the order of a lower or barrel they will turn into a whole nother rifle like magic.

edit: I usually get stuff from Brownell's, they have just about every small part you can imagine. Shipping is what will kill ya though, so it's best to get small parts with other stuff. Beats paying $5 to ship a $0.25 part.

I do have the spring and that isn't a bad idea. Do you think it will affect my accuracy at all?:D

Thanks

I just ordered four detent springs and two detent pins for the take-down.....those little fawkers (springs) like run away at a fast pace.....there's one somewhere in my damn garage from this weekend's work :shaking:.

There's gotta be a bunch in mine, along with some random springs, and a Saiga gas block pin. I always love it when the girl is vacuuming and I hear GNARRRR CLACKCLACKCLACKCLACKCLACK.

"What the fuck was that?"

"Just another detent pin. Don't worry about it."

I was pulling a CTR stock and putting on a UBR last week and launched the rear take down detent and spring 16 feet across the room. Luckily my 1 yr old black lab marked the downed detent and spring like a champion, and I successfully recovered them.

Yeah, I was installing the same CTR, but with a Troy ambidextrous butt plate. The swivel well on the right side makes getting the spring back in without bending it almost impossible because it gets smashed between the plate and receiver if you rotate the plate and it's keyed into the buffer tube slot so it's gotta rotate with it. I may have been trying to go about it bass akwards, but didn't have a computer nearby to research the proper method.

I'm going to attempt to replace the bent spring soon......would you mind shipping that lab to me for a few days :D?

Slide the retaining plate back as far as possible and don't slide it forward until you're tightening down the lock nut. I figured that out after bending a spring myself... Oh and I just installed the bent spring and it works just fine

I just taped the hole under that plate with a 4/40 thread tap and put a set screw in to hold the spring in there. Took 3 min. I recomend it.

That's a damn great idea, wonder why they didn't do that in the first place?

I guess the guys out in the field aren't messing with buffer tubes much (hopefully), but I couldn't imagine trying to keep up with that little bitch spring in the middle of the desert.......

That's what I did, but even slid all the way back the lug for the sling swivel sticks forward so far that it's basically against the back of the receiver by the time you get the buffer tube in far enough to retain the buffer detent.....kind of hard to explain what I'm trying to say....

See how the un-used swivel lug actually protrudes forward in front of the plate, this cuts the working space way down-

The tapping works well, just ensure to cut down the spring.

So am I the only person that doesn't launch detents?

I have a great place to cut mine......right where the plate bent the spring at right angle as it started to rotate and almost sheared it off.....hell....I have two bent ends to choose from

The UBR makes keeping the spring straight incredibly easy, by far the easiest out of any stock setup I've ever installed. Buffer tube screws into receiver, then the stock is attached to the buffer tube by a screw in the back, so you can line it all up perfect and hold it in place until you spin the screw in. Obligatory pic...

Admittedly, that's the first time I've been to that site. And no, gun's aren't new to me

Am I the only one who the ".....especially our snipers" thing bugs?! I mean WTF?! Cause all soldiers aren't important?! Way to use a tacticool word in a feel good phrase to make people want to buy your overpriced "specially honored sniper" sorta stuf......uuuuugh

I wasn't going to do your homework for you. :flipoff2: The LT throw lever is a giveaway that he's fucked with it, which is why I assumed it was all some contraption machined out of $5 of aluminum and sold for triple digits.

See Pete, told ya so. :flipoff2:

:eek::eek::eek:::eek:$170:eek::eek::eek:

But you get all kinds of free stuff with it, like $2 worth of BBQ rub, a $4 hat, $.75 bumper stickers, and an armadillo bottle opener that is just the right size to stab your thigh if you even think of putting it on your keychain. Oh, and a $.99 bottle of machine gunners lube. So really, it's only like a $162.xx mount. Total bargain.

Eh - I spent $80 on a quick disconnect mount so I could switch the bi-pod between guns, wasn't that big of a deal IMO.

But we have managed to totally derail the OP's post in the process - sorry.
