I have a chevy 1/2 ton dana 44 I am putting uder my Toyota right now.I would like to run a 9 inch in the rear. I was wondering how I can change the bolt pattern on the 44 so I can use the same wheels front and rear. Can I change from the knuckles out? Would I be able to use the Chevy axleshaft's with the Ford outer parts?
I might be able to get a good deal on a Scout 44 front.Would this be an option? Please any help would be great:D

i use a chevy spindle, and ford rotor on my d-44 to get disc brakes outta the stock eb drum brake 44 and still use the ford lug pattern...
you can use a ford axle outer with the chevy spindles but the little lock ring will not go on so you insert a bolt into the allready threaded axle shaft with a washer..
and yes you can also just use the knuckle out if you want as well..
honestly i would rather have the chevy 6 lug pattern for the extra strength..
when you order your aftermarket shafts for the 9 have them done with the chevy 6 lug..
hope this helps its very common on early broncos...

Wow.....not all too familiar with the http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/images/top_search.gif (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/search.php?s=) function are you? This has been covered sooooooo many times, try "Dana 44 5 on 5.5" or something like that, basically, you can use the Ford knuckles out but you're stuck with the Ford brakes, or you can use early Chevy 1/2 ton spindles (you may allready have them, check for 1.75" inner bearing race diameter) with the Ford's rotor and hub, everything else Chevy.
The Scout is basically a Dana 44 with zero caster and Dana 30 outers, dumb.

orrrrrrrrrrr......you can use the common large inner bearing Chevy spindles and brake caliper bracket and a Dodge 5x5.5 hub/rotor off say a 80's Dodge 1/2 ton "you could ask the Dodge guys what years to look for" We have done this swap often and it works great...the ONLY stickler is you have to use the caliper brackets with a sheetmetal dust cover, and NOT the complete stamped steel models. This gives you Chevy brakes and the bigger inner wheelbearings AND a Ford bolt pattern.
