I know that you can shave a 60, but how much? I would like imput from someone who has done this. thanks

What you need to do is see how much room you have between the case and the ring gear. I would say about 5/8" so if you take off the bottom and that space you will end up with about 1" to or so once you weld on the 1/2" plate that becomes the new bottom. Does that help.

are you talking about cutting and shaving or just taking a grinder to the bottom? i just ground the lip off of the bottom of the housing and that is good for around 1/2".

I took it down to half way through the cover hole then plated the whole bottom.
Also made a skid for the cover, slides over rocks good.
