I picked one of these up awhile ago on special at Big5, and was told that it was interchangeable with 870 aftermarket parts by some non-Big5 employees. It's been sitting in my safe for probably a year and I'd like to finally get around to putting a collapsible stock of some sort and heat shield and other tacticool accessories.

Does anyone know if the aftermarket parts are interchangeable? The guns look almost identical save for the odd notch on the top of the receiver of the H&R and the magazine tube cap.

I believe everything but the barrels will interchange.

I have one also. Only shot it a few times.

I just put the knox blackhawk specops recoil suppression stock and front grip on mine. It all bolted and swapped perfect. You can`t beat the recoil supression stock its WAY more shoulder friendly.

What about heatshields? I see that ATI makes one with ghost rings, but reviews seem to say it's a cheap setup. I can't do actual rifle sights because I can't change out the barrel for a barrel with rifle sights (barrels aren't interchangeable), and I don't feel like tapping the barrel or paying for it to be done.

Are there any heatshields that work with this gun, preferably with some type of rifle sight? Is it even worth it?

On my turkey gun, I have some fiber optic rifle sights that clamp on to the vent rib. I think the brand is tru-glo and they have held up to almost exclusively 3.5" turkey loads for about 3 years.

Vent ribs sure would make it an easier task. But, alas, no rib on the H&R.
