Ok Im a jeep guy lets get this right out in the open.

I fragged a scout 44 last weekend and I have been searching for a replacment.

Anyway, this buddy of mine calls me up and says his friend has a 1980 travelall with a d44 and a dana 300.

But the kicker is that its a auto. I have not yet seen the truck let alone the tcase so I dont know what to belive.

If this is the infamous IH Dana 300 what would it take to get it behind my t-18 being that its behind a auto tranny now.

And is there anything else I can take off of it to save? Its going to the crusher on sat.

meant to say traveler. Like long scout.......

I have been getting the travelall and traveler mixed up here lately.

He says it does have a 44 in the rear but the weeds where to high to see the tcase but he knows it isnt divorced.

So what do you think?
Bother with it or not?

All you will need to do is by a manual bull gear from somebody. The one on the auto will be a 23 spline, you will need the six spline. It will bolt up to your T18, texas style bolt patern.

No such thing as an '80 travelall. They stopped making the fullsizes in '75.

As for the D300, it has the texas bolt battern, make sure it fits behind your tranny, since it is a different bolt pattern than Jeep used and the two aren't interchangeable.

So is the Ford T18 the exact same as the IH T18? How about the T18 used in the CJ? Seems there were 12 different versions of the Jeep T18 alone, not counting the ones that went into Furds and IHs. Which T18 is he using? Not all T18s are equal, and he told us nothing about the rest of his drivetrain. I was merely suggesting he make sure what he had was compatible before commiting himself to the hardware.
