Howdy All,

I am about to throw the Bodgerover into a 4 day competition that is definitely going to involve lots of mud and water. Yes - we are out of our depth :flipoff2:

We need to re-waterproof the 4.4P76 V8 - yep - I have decided the coke bottle might not be up to the task :D

Any ideas or experience? I would normally experiment with all sorts of cheap ideas before doing it properly - but our 3 weeks til competition deadline is taking all the fun out of bodging....

cheers in advance
dick

PS - Everything stock apart from: Electric fans [with cut out], no air-con, and yes I do have a snorkel :flipoff2:

the thing that i have always wanted to toy with is making positive distributor cap pressure. insert some sort of seal into the shaft right below the rotor, and tap an air line into the housing with a few PSI of pressure to it. might work, might not, worth a shot IMO.

other thing you can do is try to seal off the engine bay as much as possible with a reeeeealy good bonnet seal and a few other places should help sustain the air pocket.

get your coil out of harms way.

bring lots of spare electrical components.

Dielectric grease on the electrodes.

Hi-Temp RTV on the leads and around the cap.

A baggie on the coil, (don't laugh it worked at IRP during a storm in the Alfa)

greasing the boots and or the connector points works very well.
