I have a brand new PTO you can connect to a hyd pump and run a winch. Have the winch to, but to heavy to ship and missing the drive shaft.

I know the mitsus came with the stock PTO winch, is the PTO set up soemthing that can only be found on mitsus with it or what? In other words could a guy make his own PTO set up without spending a pile of money or what?
I'm sure this has been discussed before but I'm curious.
MontyMcV 03-23-2010, 07:32 PM On the winch, someone on The Wire in the US managed to get his hands on one. IIRC, he had to get a couple gears made for the t-case. I think it was Capn Crunch...
Stay away from Nitte's pics and all. If not, you'll find yourself sucked into a serious love-hate thing. Love the work, hate him for being so good at it, twice!

brianawd 04-10-2010, 01:43 PM Hi all, new here so I thought I would share. Right now its sitting on 33s with a 2.5in lift. Well maybe 1.5in lift as my tbars are warn out and the 2.5in valley springs are sagging really bad. Going to put some new tbars and rear springs in this summer to fix the problem. Then a 2in body lift and some 35s. Also going to do 4.90 gears and a arp front locker.

I need to install the front ARB I have in the garage. As soon as I finish the timing belt and sliders for my 91, I'll be back to work on this one.
Justice R 05-13-2010, 09:19 PM Here's the 91 Ive been working on..In the middle of changing out the timing belt right now. Once I get the 1.5" body lift installed I'll put a set of sliders on it and maybe a heavy duty rear bumper and it will be done...Maybe a HD skid for the gas tank too. It already has a gen 2 SR rear end with disks and a locker..This one will stay mild.

How huge of tires you gonna run? Drivetrain?
UPRaider 06-08-2010, 07:50 AM The dana 30 up front has held up pretty nice actually... (and its a stock mitsu in the rear)
Anyway, I plan on running 36 to 38's when im done. I have a 4.3L vortec that im building, and may put that in with a sm465 and a 208 or 205. First, I'm going to put in the d44 high pinion with radius arms and coils and the dana 60 on leafs. THEN, maybe, after I wheel it a while, I might throw in the GM drivetrain and 3 link the rear....maybeeee:smokin:

Welcome to Pirate! Your Rig looks Well Built.:D
What were the other 3 trannies? autos? 5-speeds? something else?
JohnEd 02-05-2011, 05:31 PM Thank you. The trannies were all 5-speed stock manuals. Two died by torque, the last one from an unfortunate landing on a rock. Cracked right through my skid plate and killed it.
I noticed, quite many solid axel swaps fronts on this forum. Impressive.
I have thought about it, but I've managed ok so far with lockers helping when the IFS gets airbourne.
Sooner or later its getting swapped, but I'm only accepting a swap to portals :D
sneakyninja 02-05-2011, 08:16 PM Yeah 406īs would go nicely under your PAJ, might even look into usinage joints to make the suspension more MOG like. I looked into doing that but for what unimog axles run these parts it is cheaper to just buy a complete running driving Mog which will be my next vehicle purchase.:D

Crud! hate to hear this as i am running that exact tranny in my rig. i have a spare for now but better get another one until i uprade some day if ever.
rxinhed 02-06-2011, 11:55 AM Seems odd, speaking from the US market, to see the 4-cyl grille on the LWB. Love the lights!!
JohnEd 02-06-2011, 05:06 PM Yeah 406īs would go nicely under your PAJ,
I will probably, if it ever happens, go for the Volvo military portals. In Sweden they are more common.

If you're running stock - or close to stock - engine, dont worry. My Benz engine puts out almost 400lb/ft, so I can't blame the trannies for giving up.
I could however recommend the '93 or newer super-select gearboxes. They seem stronger. I bought one, but haven't used it.
Seems odd, speaking from the US market, to see the 4-cyl grille on the LWB. Love the lights!!
Well actually my LWB is a 4-cyl originally. The 4D55 4cyl diesel. I do however have another grille, but I like this one.
Thank you, all of you, for your nice words.
In these few days I've been browsing pirate4x4 I've already learnt alot, and hopefully I will give something back to you as well. Hopefully. :)
rxinhed 02-08-2011, 01:29 AM My wife and I gave both our children Monteros for their Yule presents. My daughter had a selection of grilles to choose from, so she'll be driving a similarly equipped Monty as yours where this is concerned. Cheers.

Thank you. 38.5x15" (measures about 37") Steering is terrible off road, but has not broken. Rubs the fenders and tub. I have not broken anything but I don't push it too hard off road.

What size are the kumhos? Looks great!
capblack 03-13-2011, 10:46 AM they are 31/10.50/15s, i like it the way it is, gonna turn the torsions to level the front and get a 4 wheel alignment at the first rotation. i like the tires, very quiet and plenty of traction, probably more than we needed for a daily driver, but oh well!! the wife wont let me ditch the running boards, but if we tear one off on the trail, then ill have no choice but to remove them and install sliders:D

Can you tell me more about that winch anchor? Handmade?
It is a regular anchor for a boat. Google bruce anchor and you'll find it.
I've modified it abit after that picture was taken though, good in hard mud but not enough traction in mud and sand. I'll get pictures of the mod.
Aaand, for your information, I've started a swap for solid axles on my rig. With four wheel steering. And hydraulics. :grinpimp: :flipoff2:
Also upgrading engine more. Dynoed 440bhp 390lb/ft but my goal is 500bhp 500lb/ft.
Gonna take a few months to fix but I'm not in a hurry. :smokin:
Raole Duke 06-01-2011, 04:04 PM I'm only accepting a swap to portals :D

JohnEd 06-01-2011, 06:02 PM So you still stickin to this plan? Post pics when it happens.:grinpimp:
Haha, somehow I knew you guys would keep me accountable for that statement. :grinpimp:
My answer is yes, I'm sticking to that plan. The axles I have now are not those portals though. Can't afford them yet.
But I'm building to be able to easily swap for the portals as soon as I can afford them. Hopefully before the rig even touches the ground next time.
Two steering portal axles over here is around $10k.
Edit: And yes! I will post pictures as soon as it starts looking badass enough

Nope not Franks one, not sure where his onld one is last I heard he rolled it, then sold it. The new owner did a body swap and then was trying to sell it.
Franks Paj was what made me want to do mine, although I did it differently with Dana diffs. Still yet to break the D30, although lack of power with the 4d56ti is good insurance :D
