yeah...LOTS

you wont break them until you get a locker newbie!

this is an aussie HJ60, with full floting axles and the axle has snapped off right at the flange, between the flange and seal runner, runs 35" mtrs and a welded rear...

i ran 35s on my welded rear for a loong time (8 months, and drove like an idiot without problems)

i also run it on 38s everytime i go wheeling and havent really had a problem with axles...... as such, for up to 35s and 38s, these axles are really reliable, especially on a vehicle like the FJ40, where weight is considerably less than that of the 60 series! any bigger would require an upgrade to something like 1.5" 35 spline 60/70/14bolt or mogs or rockwells, or something, depending on your budget/availability!

ahh the OEM poo brown sixty series, how i adore that colour ;) that it the flange sitting on the rim, and dan is holding the axle which has sheared off......

yep

rear short side on my 1980 FJ40
running 35" boggers, detroit locker and 4.88's, stock motor and trans

broke off at the c clip....really sucked....deep in the woods with no tools or parts. had to disassemble the detroit to get the spline part out the next day

happened climbing a 3ft ledge....shouldn't have broken

must've been driver error:smokin:

Why I always reccomend runing disk brakes on a cruiser....

C-clip

they would always shear clean at the c-clip groove with that style of axle, full floaters, seem to shear off further out!

I have rear discs and broke an axle shaft. The discs did not hold the axle in. It made it tiltled out at the bottom but in at the top from the discs. I think if you search I have a picture on here with my broken long side.

I'm in the process of tearing down a pair of axles and have the shafts, which I will let go cheap... It's taking longer than expected after the axle rolled off the jack stands and onto my foot.. Been unable to really do much work since Monday..:(

I have the rear axles out now, but was going to wait to make the for sale post until it was all apart, and I have pics.
