So what is the opinion of you guys for long travel shocks for the front of a rig 10-16" travel. I know that many people run the Ranchos but I have to say that I dont really like them. They have triple wall construction and that leads to a very small piston. They either are too soft or too hard and seam to get quite-a-bit of foaming just off the vehicle (read inconsistant compression and rebound).

Anyone running gas shocks like Bilstein, OME, Doestch or the like? What about a larger diameter shock like a 2.5 inch Fox or Sway-a-way or 9100 bilsteins.

I thought you had coilovers in the front...why do you need shocks?

Im running 5100's /w leafprings in front of my rangers at about 13" of travel... they a little soft though, I have rancho 9000s in the rear and I think im going to swap them.

EDIT: Nevermind the coilover comment.. I mistook you for 'Explorer'

I would like to do coilovers but I just bought a house and ALL the new appliances have kind of wipped out the bank account. I will be switching to either a wristed arm or extended radius arms and keep my current setup but will need to use different shocks. I have some Bilsteins 6100's 14" and a couple of 7100's 10" just curious to see what others are using besides 9000's.

So how do you like your foxes? 2" or bigger? How do they ride?

Bilstein 5100's are real nice. When my RS 9012's go out I spring for a set.

I run Bilstein 9100 coilovers on the front and 9100's on the back with a Deaver springs. I love the set up and will love it a lot more when I actually get around to valving them;)
