I like Penny Pines and the whole Upper Lake area, The camp grounds at the bottom of the hill at Middle Creek has a great kids ridding area and a nice river going through, which is great cause it sure gets hot there

It's been about 6 years since I had to give up riding due to an injury (trees suck:flipoff but some of my fav's were: Georgetown & Foresthill(great single track riding), Carnegie (great hill climbs) and, of course, the Rubicon.

OOOHH, there is a place off liberty road in lodi that is a good ' test out the bike when you do mods ' place, and also stergens bend in manteca is good for that. Carnigie, club moto and the new altamont raceway track are all within like 15 min of my house in livermore. Prarie city up above sac is cool, along with holister. Also, on 101 south on the way to holister right before morgan hill there is a sign on the freeway and if you follow it it takes you to a cool little place up in the hills above morgan hill. I do not remember the name of it but it is fun as hell too!!! And we can't forget pismo!!!!

Am i the only one who has ever ridden Stonyford??? Its kinda like missing out on the Rubicon if your into 4-wheeling. Imagine 100,000+ acres of trails ranging from 2000' up to 8,000' w/ a ton of hillclimbs, single track, etc.... You can ride a whole weekend, and not hit the same trail once.

I raced enduro's for ten years and hold an A class enduro district 36 card, although I have retired from racing/not riding. Stonyford is great, as are alot of the other previously mentioned area's. But what I can't belive is that no one has mentioned CLEAR CREEK. To me, the creek has it all. It's the ultimate bike playground.Monster hills, tight trails, and every kind of terrain you can imagine. Stonyford is big, but I didn't think I was anywhere near 100,000 acres, I know for a fact that the Creek is very close to that, having put on two enduro's their in the late 80's.

so where's clear creek? always looking for good places. any rivers, lakes nearby?
i know stonyford connects up to Upper Lake but dont have a big enough tank to cover that. THere is also the backcountry road up to Covelo which is about 40 miles of dirt road (boring).

From where I live down south (santa barbra,sp?) there is a place called Gorman, on top of the grape vine. Another great place is pismo beach. Marysville has a cool track up by Sac, and hell yeah stonyford is the sh!t !!!! Then there is a place off of the 126 highway, just a bunch of hills and jumps. Forest Hill is another sweet spot. Then there is sand mountain in Nevada.!!! bbbrrrrppppppp brbrpppp!

If you like lots of Sand and Speed Go to Glamis. I like Sand mountain because it is close enough to go up and spend the day then come home. Get to the railroad tracks from Cameron park to Placerville there are lots of trails and stuff off there. The last time I went to Praire city on a quad it sucked except for the tracks. The old trails in Shingle Springs and out at Durrock used to be the best.

FMG, Liberty road riding area is now closed due to all the dumping of trash & cars. You will be cited for trespassing if caught. That place was a lot of fun.Too bad.
