I have a 74 Blazer with no turn signals. I do have emergency flashers that work. I have checked out all the fuses, replaced the turn signal assembley and checked the wiring. I need to get a brake and light inspection and need the turn signals. If I want to bypass the system and run a seperate switch will the e-flashers still work or will I have to set up a seperate switch? Im lost and pissed of at this POS. Any suggestions out there?

You will be better served to fix the problem rather than try to bypass something, there are wires in that harness that will drive you crazy if you want to bypass...
I still bet its a bad connection on the turn signal harness plug

Do the brake lights work?
It may be the wiring harness that leads up the steering column.

The wires from the plug to the turn switch are all part of the unit I have replaced allready. What gets me is all my lights work except the turn signals.

I would get a voltage probe, start at the wires going to the backside socket to see if your getting power, with the turn signal on. If no juice, move up to the next area of connection.
Do you have a schematic for you truck to follow. Its usually a lot easier to know what color wires to trace in the harness.
I have run into similar problems on different vehicles, from bad grounds, dirty/corroded sockets, wrong bulbs, and wiring that was fubared from people doing a half-assed job splicing in trailer harnesses. :skull:

I have been searching for a schematic on line for the last hour or so. I need to go buy a volt meeter mine dissappeared  The part that gets me is the e-flashers is on the same power source to the switch isnt it? I need to keep looking and find the damn diagram.

Ok so you said you changed the switch. If not, with the key off use the turn signal switch and step on the brakes. The turn signal you picked should not light up when you step on the brakes. That way you know the signal is being changed from brake to turn signal, or at least trying to. With that said have you tried switching flashers? There should be two seperate flashers, one for the emergency and one for turn signals. This should take care of your problem. As far as I recall, the brake and turn signal bulb is the same. Hope this helps.

Turn signal power and e-flasher power is seperate. Seperate fuses, seperate flashers, seperate power source. Have you checked the turn signal flasher? Power for the turn signals goes from the ignition switch, to the fuse, then to the flasher, then to the turn signal switch. Thats the feed you're not getting. If you say all the fuses are good I would check the flasher next

Ill have to go look again. Thanks for the input.

That brake light idea is cool! I'll have to remember that

I have been racking my brain for a week on this and now I feel like an A$$, there wasnt a relay or what ever that damn round thing is in there. I took the old one (I had bought a new one) and put it in there and they work fine :bounce2: :bounce2:
