Anyone know what an '84 XR350 might weigh? Seems like a heavy SOB for my scrawny butt...
How much lighter might an XR400 be? I think the 400 is around 250lbs?

In reality... I'd say they weight about the same.
The XR400 will feel lighter when your riding it because its thinner.
Go for the XR250??

Really? I need to figure out a way to weigh my 350 I guess.
Hmm... a hopped up 250 might be good though...
Who knows if/when it will ever happen though... Too many hobbies that cost too much money. I'll probably just have to ride this thing into the ground before I can justify doing anything else...

NO... don't weight it... you be bummed, they ALL weigh alot more than they claim...280 with gas??
I like the XR250 better because it's a little lighter and it rev's a WHOLE lot faster and you ride it more wide open, so you end up going faster than if you were on the 400

I'll bet its even more than that... the gas tank (aftermarket?) holds 5 gallons plus!
Now since you said not to, I'm really curious... maybe if I weigh it I'll be more motivated to get something else.
It also doesn't rev at all... Its got a nice bottom end grunt, but thats it.
Thank for the help man!

Thanks Jeff, just what I was looking for!
I had an XL250 (I think it was an '84 too) right before I bought the 350. That was my first bike, 3 years ago or so. My 350 feels like its the same weight as the XL250 was, but its taller so it probably feels worse when riding.
The XL had a battery, steel tank, lights and a bunch of emissions crap I didn't need (charcoal canister, etc). THe XL had a really soft suspension too and I always bottomed it out easily.
Also, from what I've read, I think my '84 350 is significantly heavier than the '85 350.
The '84 has a steel swing arm and dual carbs. The '85 has an aluminum swing arm, single carb, and I think it has a dry sump oil system too. The '85 also has a little bit larger dispacement too. Obviously the '85 is the "one" to get if you're looking for a 350... (last year of the 350's too).
I need to steal a bathroom scale and weigh my pig... I mean bike.
