Here is another update. Per the previous post on PuffDragons account, we got the Tdi fired up and drove it around. Ramped it on KC's 25 degree ramp and with the front stuffed, the 38's do not hit the outriggers or any of the body work (turned the wheel back and forth at max stuff as well). It is pretty quiet considering it has an open exhaust header.
We also put on the truck cab to see how it will look/work.
Driving around a bit in low/low (crawler low) is fantastic. Took some big steps around KC's shop (in just front wheel drive) with no throttle input at all, just idled over stuff and off the other side. Lots of control.
BTW the rear driveshaft was lengthened at a local shop to about 44" long (woohoo). Although this does not compare with Slade's behemoth.
Thats all for now. Secret stuff to follow soon (isn't the suspense killing you?)
Here are some picts:

That white top looks great.
Does the new TDi have the same very noticeable arhythmic beat or is it smooth but with a low grumble ?
:flipoff2: - me green with envy

damn, I was hopin' to see some ramp pics man!
And what's this about doing some big steps with lots of control? I don't think you really did it. I want some pics man!!!!:flipoff2:
Oh, and speaking of my shaft, it truly is a behemoth! (it even has a red spiral stripe! doctors can't figure out what it is....)
Very slick truck cab/roof. Lookin' good. Have you figured out how you're going to finish out the trim on the cab and cab back? I've tried to source cab trim pieces, but apparently they are formed as part of the truck cab headliner?
Might have to have something made (what a surprize).
Keep it up man, you're close!!!!

the truck cab trim is made of 4 (might be 5) pieces.
1) the roof panel
2) the two bits that go down the sides where the seatbelt fixings go.
3) piece behind that goes around the slidy window
4) might be one underneath that, i can't remember off the top of my head.
5) and a piece of aluminium angle, about 30 inches long, screws on top of the rear window.

Nice lookin' rig man. What a coincidence that I found your post! I was up at KC's shop today chatting and returning a few borrowed tools. Saw him fabbing your fuel cell mounts and chatted with him a little about the TDi. Very cool! Had no clue I would find your post here. Small world
When are you going to be up there working on it again? I would love to stop by and hang out for a while.
