My original 700r4 started missin the 1-2 shift a bit, so I get this rebuilt one from a friend of a friend. I have a few questions though

I put it in my s blazer behind a 4.3, it wasnt a 4.3 tranny so I had to cut the little ears off the bellhousing and such. I did put the governor out of my old tranny in this new one, as I am told this has to do with the shift points. Anyway question, this "rebuilt" seems to shift really fast when I am easily accelerating, like it shifts into second and third just to quick. When I accelerate hard it seems to be fine, but just loafin it jumps gears fast. I should include I have messed with the TV cable a bit as well and dont really know if that has any say in this problem?

I also have a leak from the shaft that the shift linkage attaches to, someone told me it requires a special tool to replace the seal in there, is this true?

The new tranny seems to shift a bit quick eh??? it depends on what kind of rebuild was done to the trans, did they do a shift kit while they were in there? My 700 has a corvette servo, clutches, a 10 veign pump, yadda yadda, and it barks both 35's when it shifts from first to second. You can play with the TV cable to try and soften the shifts, but be careful you don't do too much or it could hurt the trans. As for the leak, sorry, no help here. Good Luck!

It doesnt shift really hard or anything, but it shifts up from first and second like imediately and into third even, if your not on the gas, I have messed with the cable a bit tryin to get it to shift as I want it to, but I am afraid of damaging the tranny to, cause I dont have a clue what Im doin! :D Im not a tranny person!

Sorry, i am retarded. I thought you meant that the trans was engaging into gear to firmly, not too soon. That can be remedied very easily. the cable must be adjusted. The adjustment is on the cable where it attaches to the bracket on the carb, throttlebody, etc. just push in the little black D shaped button, and move the adjuster sleeve in or out. (The sleeve looks like a little black plastic tube with a little cap on it, sorta like a lil' pecker) (Sorry for the technical terminology...:flipoff2: ) Anywho, just move the adjuster in or out and take it for a test drive till it shifts normally. Should shift outta first at about 10 m.p.h. at medium throttle, and from second to third at 20-25 m.p.h. Have fun!

P.S. If still unsure, just wheel it down to the local tranny shop. they will do it in like 5 minutes, and prolly not charge ya anything!:D

I cant find it now but there was a great thread on adjusting the throttle position sensor indicator. I believe it said to properly adjust the linkage you gotta pull the tranny pan. You can make minor adjustments @ the carb but for a tranny swap I think you should pull the pan. Maybe some one can fill in for me or find the thread.
