Besides the Rubican, when was the first locker available STOCK in a Jeep? OR was a LSD the only option?

Thanks

You find detroits in stock applications. Which, I don't remember - but there is a stock D60 application

I hate to say it, but I can't think of any stock Jeeps that came with more than a limited. The J-trucks would have been the most likely candidate (being the only Jeep with a stock D60), and I do not believe they ever had a locker option.

I would guess that the Rubi is probably the first with a full locker in the front for a production vehicle. The JGC was probably first with a front LSD when they came out with QTII.

If there were applications, they must be pretty rare and are not written about often.

Oh well:D

I got the FJ40 guys pissed because their "same size as a 60" axle shafts are weaker than a D44:D Good stuff.

I think the Rubicon is the first Jeep to be offered with a locker. Limited slips have been available since at least 1966 but no lockers that I know of. I bought my last new Jeep in '79 and I had to settle for a limited slip even though AMC had a Detroit available for their model 20 axle in previous years.

The M-715 came with a Detroit in the rear which was a D70.

Correct on the Rear D-70 but none of the three M-715's I had have had lockers. Wide open differential.

Some of the M38A1 Willy's vehicles had rear Detroits when issued to the Marine Corps.

I'll try to confirm/deny the M_ _(_) questions in my parts books, but I haven't looked up one yet. My M715's open. I'm betting the Rubicon's the first locker.

Matt, wrong early 60's waggy had an IFS option :barf:

Hmmmm.... Should I let you guys think Michelle knows too much stuff about Jeep specs or just admit I posted without logging her off????:flipoff2:
