Torchmate 2x2 CNC Prototyping System $1,995
Thermal Dynamics Cutskill 35Amp Plasma Cutter $750
Hand Torch Holder $235

Total Cost $2,980 + shipping

There are 30 of these new plasma cutters arriving today with 20 more on the way. They come pre-wired for easy plug and play on the Torchmate 2x2 Systems. We have been playing with one for a few months and have been extremely impressed with the cut quality as well as the price. They use the same low cost consumables that you can find for other Thermal Dynamics plasma cutters on our online store at www.torchmatestore.com because they use the same torch. Below are some pictures. The material in the last two pic's is 3/16" and 1/4" mild steel.

If you have already purchased a 2x2 and would like to add one of these cutters to your order, just give the sales department a call. (866)571-1066 I will post the file with all the specifics for the cutter on Monday.

How does the Thermal Dynamics compare to the Hyper 45?

Apples and oranges. Less cutter at a lower price. In my world more power is almost always better. In this case it depends on your budget and what you need to do with it. If you plan on cutting .25" or less and are just cutting prototype parts then this Thermal Dynamics machine will do the trick. Same thickness but more production then the 45 is a better choice. I wouldn't plan on cutting all day with either of those machines turned all the way up or you will bump into the duty cycle.

While I have seen the new T-D unit....I have not tried it. I understand it is imported (looks very similar internally to some of the Chinese units), and uses the One Torch (Mexican built), which is a decent non high frequency start torch. As soon as I have more info I will be happy to share comparative data such as killowatt output, maximum pierce, duty cycle, relative consumable life etc. As far as power output and price comparison....it is likely a better comparison vs the Hypertherm Powermax30. The whole package looks like a heck of a deal....CNC plasma cutting machine complete with Plasma for under $3k!

Here is the spec sheet on the new little Thermal Dynamics 35Amp plasma cutter. It turns out that they rated it at 35Amps instead of 40.

We are almost completely caught up on the Torchmate 2x2 waitlist. Within the next 2-3 weeks we should have another 50-75 units on the shelf ready to ship. Thanks for everyone's patience as we have rolled this new product out. The new Thermal Dynamics CutSkill 35Amp plasma cutters have been a great hit. Another shipment of those has arrived and more are on the way. No more deposits and no more waitlist in the near future. :D
