My fiancee has a d30 in the front with an aussie locker and 4.88 gears. in the back he has a ford 8.8 with 4.88 gears and a powertrax locker. he's got 36" tires about to go on there. yes i know that's a stupid idea most likely and the d30 should last little to no time, but curious as to how long some people have heard of the d30s lasting with larger tires on the jeep? just for budgeting reasons i suppose.

thanks in advance.

It really all depends on how you wheel it. I was in the same boat a few years back (38's on a D30) and I managed to wheel it 'sucsessfully' for a few days. I finally broke a front axle shaft in deep snow. So either get a pile of spare shafts and get good at swapping them in a hurry or upgrade to a D44 or go really really really easy on the throttle!

:laughing:If I had a nickle for every dana 30 shaft I've seen being swapped out on the side of the trail..............well, I would have a lot of nickles.
