: Bender lost in shipping with good conclusion

I ordered a JD2 bender, some dies, and a notcher over two weeks ago and so far have only received one die and the notcher. When I tracked the order today the bender showed that it has not moved for three days at UPS, so I made some calls. JD2 put a tracer on it and UPS just called me to tell me they cannot find it!

The good news is that UPS authorized JD2 to send another one out today and have it get to me by tomorrow, Saturday, by noon! The rest of the dies were backordered and should get to me today or Monday.

I was really surprised with the effiency with which the situation was handled once a problem was found. Both parties have turned a bitter customer into a fan of each companies customer service. JD2 was never at fault and is bending over backwards to make the situation right. UPS has paid for all shipping charges.

Just thought I'd let people know of how both companies operate.

And when they find your original packages (in a UPS employees garage) are they gonna let you have those too???

I've heard good things about their customer service. Glad to see it's true in some cases. In my case I've been much less than impressed.

I wish the person that answers the phone wasn't so reluctant to put someone on the phone who can actually answer my technical questions. Or better yet, put them on w/o me having to ask the question, then repeat it to the next person.

My Hydraulic cylinder blew a seal after only 2-3 weeks. The lady that answers the phone said she had never heard of this happening, like she says of all the problems I have had, like the anti-springback lever being too short, which turned out to be a known issue and even the raw steel pins and handles rusting...yeah right).

Anyway, I had customer work stacked up. I told them this and they promised to sent me one two day the following day (after 2-3 calls). 2 days later, CALL TAGS show up. After calling again to find out WTF, I was told that the hydraulic vendor wanted to see it before warranting it, so they sent call tags without telling me of the change,WTF!! I explained this was unacceptable, and they sent me one but I was down for a week.

YMMV and I hope it does.

UPS is full of theives. My Repair hub quit using them alltogether. They lost milions in shipping when we did that. In 4 years of using Fedx we had less lost product than what UPS had "Lost/stolen" in 4 months. The UPS theives were opening packages taking a few items then resealing and sending them through. Funny thing is the dye bombs that were sent were never messed with.

Well it got here at 11 AM and everything was in there that I can see. If my wife would let me stop working on the house I could go out there and put it together:(

Yeah, yeah, I know:

PUSSY WHIPPED

The sad thing is that with her being pregnant there has been a lot of "whipping", but none of the other part:confused:

glad to hear that SOMEBODY has a good rap with UPS.

"IF" you ever happen to have a "problem" with lost/broken
items in their care, 99.99% of the time, YOU ARE FOCKED.

and they deliver that f-ing with a truck load of sand.

So far, my service with JD-2 has been good. I had a handle that wasn't performing as expected and had galled in several places. I called, explained the problem, and they asked me to send the parts back for inspection/ problem determination.

Instead I suggested that I send them digi-pics via email, they loved the idea. Once they got the pics, I got an email back stating that my new handle/sleeve would be on the way via 2 day air. Have the new handle, it works as advertised, happy as a clam!

Well...I bent my first piece of tube tonight. I didn't think that I was gonna have time to get it all mounted today since my family had a baby shower for my wife and we got home late, but I managed to get it together. The only die that came so far is the 1 3/4" so I bent a section of that. I did not get a piece of tube specifically to fit over the handle mount so I had to rig up a 2' section of c challel and a c-clamp to work! I can't believe I was able to bend 1 3/4"X.120 wall with just a 2' extension on the tool! It is definitely easier than I expected, but I can see where you could get tired with all the pulls and pin changes that are necessary just to get a 90. I got tight bend radius dies and I imagine it is worse with larger radius dies. I am also surprised at how much tube it takes to make a bend. I tried to do a 90, but did not put enough tube through the die to complete the bend on the first try. Ofcourse it started raining right after I got the second bend in and the bender is outside on a concrete pad so I was done for the night. Hopefully tomorrow the other dies will come in and I will get my necessary readings like outlined in Bending 101.

BTW, maybe I missed something, but what is the big threaded section and nut for on the lower frame plate? I did not see in the instructions where that comes into play. Anyone know??

It's for the optional degree ring. If you're not using that, it's not used at all.

Ahhhh...that makes sense as I was unable to figure out where the degree ring went also:emb4: As you can tell I have net spent much time with this thing yet!!

Thanks for the explanation.
