Hi all,

i have a 2000 TJ with the stock 4.0 engine and about 75k on it. i have only had this jeep for about 500-800miles.

The problem i have is that i drove the jeep about 50miles when i can to a stop and the oil pressure went to 0. I pulled into a service station and checked the oil. There wasnt hardly any oil in it, i put 5 quarts (one quart short, station only had 5 of a decent brand). I thought the oil filter was installed inproperly, so i tighetend it and pour another quart in. I drove home, but at the end of my 50 round trip, i was loosing pressure, from about 50psi to a slow bleed to 20psi at highway speeds, come to a stop and it goes to 0.
managed to get it home...no oil, doesnt show up on the stick.

i have changed the oil, filter, change brands of oil/weights, but i still loose oil. I say loose as i have checked my radiatior and i have no loss or coolant, also its bright green, not chocolate...my oil is deep black, not milky.

i have seen a thousand posts on pirate, ju, and others that point to a head problem with my year (0331) but im not loosing coolant. Im friggin loosing oil, at a alarming rate.

there is no smoke on startup, no leaks in the driveway. i havent changed the plugs yet, but i was going to pull them to see their color.

thanks all for your time.

i just rebuilt my engine because i was losing a quart per 200 miles driven. i had bad piston rings and was shooting it right out my exhaust. I didnt notice smoke unless i was sitting in my driveway at 3500 rpm and carefully looking for the smoke. It was mostly coming right out as black oil. Maybe put down some clean white rags and rev your engine a bit.

Idk if this is your problem or if this is of any help but it happened to me so maybe its just something to quick check. just my lousy .02
