Got to thinking about this a while back and was wondering if anybody had tried this. On circle track cars they use what is called a slider instead of a shackle.

What if I were to build something like this? It would give the natural front to back movement of the shackle and rotating movement like a revolver.

ALL comments welcome...

:D

There would be some safety stops of course to keep things from rotating to far!

it's been done... but think of what a pain in your ass lubing and keeping dirt out would be.

This came up not too long ago, here (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=84446) is the link. I can see some advantages to this kind of set up, the main one being a limit to stop bending springs since they cant invert like a shackle. The problems would be keeping them movable in a dirty environment, and I'm not sure how a bushing would survive being placed parallel to the shackle movement. Might be worth a try, let us know how it works, ya might be on to something here.

My god where have I been to miss that thread   Anyhow do you see any disadvantages to it other than the mess of greasing them? Death wobble maybe?

Thanks
