Did a search, no info came up. I got a little aggressive when cleaning the rust off of the bottom of my tank from my 4o and made about 4 pinholes through the tank. The largest is approx 1/8" x 1/8". The holes are confined to an area of about 2 sq inches. How do I fix this? The rest of the tank is in great shape.
Thanks,
David

Time to visit your local radiator shop
Before you dump to much money in a marginal tank, you might want to look at a poly total replacement tank..........

I was wondering the same thing. Can you fill the tank with H20 and weld a plate around the hole or just fill the hole with weld?

Found some posts on CCOT thta said JB Weld or POR putty. Could these work? The holes are kinda small.

I have had my hole for awhile now. I put JB weld on it and it last for alittle while. It is not a permanent fix for sure though.

Yeah, what he said.
Around here most radiator shops will boil it out, braze up those holes, seal it and paint if for $50-75 (walk in) and it should last another 20 years.

I've got a good tank from my FJ 40 that I'm not using, no leaks, came from the desert, no rust. It's available if anyone needs it P/M me.

I had a similar problem. After cleaning the tank inside and out and prepping with the POR-15 Metal Ready, I plugged the holes with JB Weld and after it dried I coated the inside with their tank sealer and outside with normal POR-15 and a topcoat of paint.
If you seal the inside make sure you keep the pickup and vent tubes clear (use a stiff metal wire, like a hanger). You'll probably also have to use a tap to clear the threads for the sender screws and the drain bolt.
Mine's held up well although it's only seen limited use thus far. Good luck!
