anyone tried this as a tire lube?
had a funny thought about putting a tube in the Jeep's toolbox for trailside tire repair, but figured it may raise a few eyebrows if someone saw it in there.
I can hear it now
"Dude, no, really, its for the tires"

and they say my tech is bad:rolleyes: :flipoff2:
I have found that an arisol can of glass cleaner works awsome for reseating beads. I could see the looks from the group I wheel with if I whipped out a tube of KY:eek:

Most tires lubes are water based ( soap) The lube needs to dry after the tire is mounted so it will not spin on the rim. I've never used KY for anything, is it water based? Were are the :bender: Love boys?

It's not a good idea to use anything that stays slippery for mounting tires. I mounted my own tires on my banshee 4 wheeler and used soapy water. The rims would spin inside the tires!! I guess I used a little to much soap. :D Soap is not that slippery compared to KY. I can't imagine using KY. LOL I just bought a gallon of the real deal tire stuff and put some in a small bottle for trail repairs.

KY works GREAT for installing bushings ........................... so I've heard :D
I would think that its a lil TOO slick for use on tires tho

Charcoal starter fluid works well for golf grips and handle bar grips. Similar concept so may work well here. It evaporates.

just leave it in your kit, if you get a bit excited you could always go for a walk and relieve the tension!:flipoff2:

A little foreplay should lube it up just fine without the K.Y.. :p :p Oh wait, wrong subject. :D:D
Well I had to give it a try on my "tire mounting"...Hmmmm :p ....ok now if ya know the product it does dry if not kept "damp". So on my "35" incher ( thats whale size!)...so I "spread" it around the "rim" (Ohhh) of my "35" incher ( Aye mate thats a biggie) so I "sprayed" it with a "liquid" to keep it "wet" and it did "slide" on and over pretty easily overall.......After I was done I grabbed the woman and did some other mounting, but no details for ya.....;)

Leave the KY in the night stand.
Use soapy water for the tire mounts keep the KY for other mounts.
You won't be too popular for over-nighters after that gets spotted in you "tool" box. Then again, you might be real popular in some crowds.
