: tire size for fj40 SOA on full size axles
ullose272 03-26-2010, 08:12 AM building my SOA fj40 with full size chevy axles and i was wondering what you guys think would be a good size. im going to use 17x8.5 hummer h2 wheels if i can get away with it to narrow up the wheel base a little bit. i was thinking 37x1250s or 1350s, and this is on stock springs
LukeZero 03-26-2010, 09:46 AM Probably a good starting point. If you trim the rear quarters and remove the front fenders (like a lot of us do)- you'll be able to run 40s or 42s.:grinpimp:
yzftaco 03-26-2010, 11:09 AM I would do the trimming, and run bigger tires..
After putting the 1 tons on mine, I was bulldozing until I put the 40's on it..
although i had 35's on it before (which really isn't that much different than 37's)

ullose272 03-26-2010, 09:29 PM yea i plan on doin some cutting, im not quite sure what im goin to do in the front yet, but im plannin on drivin this thing as much as i can. i guess it will kinda depend on what gears are in the diffs and which trans i end up with.

Pooze 03-28-2010, 09:57 PM I have 42's, would like to have stretched it a little more but they work great, are you trimming the 14 bolt if you were not planning on it you should.
ullose272 03-29-2010, 08:41 AM you mean narrowing? i wasnt planning on it, i was just going to use the high backspacing h2 wheels

Same day, fully stuffed, hub does stick out enough to get caught on stuff (and this is with drive slugs, not lockouts.
