Anybody know what OEM applications, if any, use 1.5" 35 spline hubs with an internal mount type lockout? Is this what's on a Dana 70 front? Just planning my next project & need to know what to shop for! Thanx!

Jab....

First it's easiest if ya try the search feature as this has been discussed in great detail and there is tons of good tech here hidden in past posts...so when ya have a question I always try ta use that first and see.........but since we here now.. Warn builds them...standard off the shelf part.

yes, I know warn builds them, & I tried to find out before I asked by searching, but nobody mentioned what OEM application, if any, uses that configuration.

So, I ask again, is there an OEM application that would use this? All I've been able to find is 30 spline 1.3"ish lockouts on OEM stuff. It seems that the larger stuff only used pucks or slugs or whatever they're called.

'79 F250? Wouldn't that be 30 spline outers/hubs, etc.?

Yup... brain fart. 30 spline outers.

I'll go sit in the corner.

I know Dana makes an over the counter 35 stub but I have never found a OE *automotive* application. I think the stubs are from some piece of equipment that came with a D60 or D70 (like the "tractors" used at some airports to move planes).

The 35 splines hubs are always aftermarket (Warn, etc) and I've never seen or heard of a OE 35 spline Spicer hub. This makes me think that the stub would be in something that would have come with a drive flange (that Dana coincidentally does make), like a piece of equipment.

I could be very wrong but I have never seen or heard of a true automotive application.

AFAIK - the 35 spline outer stubs were never available in anything automotive related... They were all in tow motor and heavy machinery applications... which explains the lack of lockout hubs, and the reason Dana/Spicer only offers the drive flanges.

That's what I thought. Thanks!

I was hoping to build a heavier duty version of what I've already got & use the lock-outs as a "cheap" easy to repair on the trail weak link to save the more expensive stuff. Even though Warn is a good company & Dana makes 35 spline outers I prefer using as many "common" off the shelf parts as possible to increase the odds of finding replacement parts when I break. Every town has a NAPA or a junkyard! Looks like it's back to the drawing board. Either that or a lighter right foot!:(
