I had actually been wondering this myself.. weather's starting to get perfect for camping/shooting and I've started rolling my own ammo, so I'm going to need somewhere to shoot it :flipoff2:


I won't be around for the first week of April, or the first weekend in May, but otherwise I'm not picky about dates or the location.

I'm in. I'll be back from deployment late June. Hopefully Chris will have my AR10 done by then (only thing holding him back is Armalite getting him the upper). I should also have my new FiveseveN and PS90. I'll have a silencer for both of them but probably won't have time to SBR the PS90 by then. :grinpimp:

With the MS150, vacations, friends wedding, and Indy 500, May is definitely going to be a full month for me, so I'd lean more towards June myself, but May 14-16 could work...

Same here as well. Last weekend of June would be awesome. I should be back Stateside around the 22nd. If my folks and brother come to visit maybe they could come up for some shooting. I'd pay into an RV rental as well.

I have a couple volunteers, we shal see if any show up Sat AM.

I plan to move the tower into a new position at teh new shooting area and possiblt reconfigure it for a spotter chair up above the shooter(we shall see)...I will use the backhoe to lever an area for the tower.
I need to trim some tree banches with the chainsaw and i have made a new batch of "bell" targets since we will be at a wheatfield and will NOT be able to go into it to "check paper targets"...I am considering some water ballon targets at teh 325 gong area and possible at a much longer range--if i can work it out.
I will work on making room for a seperate rifle only area that will allow for only 3-5 shooters at at any given time.

I will also work on an area for pistol shooters that will allow 3-5 shooters at a time.

the shotgunners and FA peeps will have to share an area and only ONE person may shoot at a time.
The pigeon thrower will be available for shotguns and since it is over a LARGE open pit, there will be some large targets for the FA gang.

I will take some pix while there and post them up for review.

this shoot will have no paper targets...I have been building some new bells to ding and so far in testing, they are working out...haven't shot them with a rifle yet, but that is soon.


nice tone and easy to hear if you hit it, that way there is no clean up and we don't have to walk out in the wheat to check the target.



there MAY be some paper alternatives for the handguns and the looooong distance target may be ballons with some water for ballast to prevent movement, you will know instantly if you hit it. Besides, how many of you can SEE a 1'X1' paper target at close to 1000yds? So, a balloon inflated to approximately 2' diameter should be a good challenge...

Bring ammo. It's hard to shoot quarters through a rifle. Bring ammo for any gun you think you might want to shoot that you don't already own. For instance, I brought a box of .50 BMG because I knew one would be there.

Want to shoot a full-auto AK? Bring as much 7.62x39 as you can. Want to shoot a full auto M-11-thing?? Bring a crate of .380... etc. If you don't have any ARs, bring some .223 and someone will probably let you run around with one for a while.

Last time was too windy for tents, but hopefully this time will be better. Tents, camper, or hotel are all valid options.

Last time everyone was pretty cool about passing guns around to let others shoot. I don't see this time being much different. People were pretty cool with the ammo too. The main point is to get together and have fun, not be anal about who's shooting what and with whose ammo

update on the newest target...


spinner this time, there was sneak peak, here it is finished but unpainted.

breaks down for easy transport...

the round disc "vanes" are canted in two opposite directions...when a person shoots one, the wheel 'should" spin in the direction the vane is angles...the opposing shooter must shoot a vane angled the opposite direction in order to make the wheel spin in their direction.

The dots and spokes will be painted TWO distinct colors so that the shooters know which to aim at. Once it gets spinning, I doubt that you could hit the discs, thus losing.

I stole the basic idea from another thread here, but changed the targets from chalk to steel for spinning action.

next one will have only four spokes/target discs and will have a spring-loaded ball bearing to stop the wheel in a certain spot. Shooters will have to hit the target to make it change to their color and have limited ammo.

Okay, looks like we MAY have a limited number of people who are able to make this one.
we will proceed with teh meet but it will be a ONE DAY event for the most part.

SW-5 (MP-5 clone) so bring as much 9mm as anyone wants to run through it.

G3 so bring as much 7.62 nato. Commercial .308 not allowed.

FAL so bring as much 7.62 or .308 as anyone wants to run through it.

AR15s (m16a2 and m4 variants) so as much .223/5.56 as anyone wants to run through either of them

VZ-58 so as much 7.62x39 as anyone wants to run through it.

I like other than June 12th--I'm going 'wheeling that weekend. And I have to visit my inlaws over Memorial weekend, but I think that was out already. IFI can persuade my mom to loan me her trailer for the weekend...you wife and child would be allowed to stay there...I may or may not be able to move it the mile from her house to the shooting site...




I would expect ALL who come and eat to make sure you are compensated for the food and your time spent cooking. I know prepping a menu and FIVE meals is NOT easy to do.

He sounded pretty interested in coming for this go, especially when I mentioned your brisket. :laughing: Hopefully I can get him out here. He just built an M1A EBR (like from MW2).
