Alright lunchbox locker in there now and occasionally breaks apart on the trail so I want it welded. up. Well money is really tight right now and I can sell the locker if I pull it. I kept the spider gears and clutch packs for the 44rear with a limited slip. Now the question is can I just put the spiders back in without the clutch packs because they break apart anyhow and litter the gearcase with metal. Take in to account that the spiders are getting welded up and its not going back to its original form. I've already looked into a mini-spool and couldn't find one for a 44 with a limited slip carrier and welding is cheaper anyhow.
BTW Dana 44 rear with limited slip and the carrier break is 3.73+ which is the carrier in there

I remember seeing a write up on this somewhere, maybe one of the rags. If I remember right, they left the clutches in there to take up the space that would be there if they werent. Then cut some tabs out of 1/4" plate to bridge the gap between the side gears and carrier. For all the trouble and possable failures I think I would just get a standard carrier to throw in there and weld up. Swapping just the carrier isnt that hard, since you wont be messing with the pinion you only have to match the backlast and your good to go. Maybe even just get a full spool and you'll be good to go. For that matter, you could just weld up the lunch box locker since it fills the carrier more than stock spiders.

Ken I think thats what I'm going to do considering the time and BS involved versus pulling the cover and welding the fawker out right. Time is everything lately. Filling the gap would be a PITA compared to losing the resale on the lunchboxer. Thanks
i say sell it,and have the person give you the dough a couple days before you wanna pull it out, buy a full spool, then take out whatcha got and stuff the spool in:p
