Last I saw Lance was fine - they broke on #3 and rolled on #6, so I think that took them out of the top positions....

Lance

We broke on our first obstacle today (front hub) and rolled on our second to last obstacle. It definitely wasnt our day. You can't win 'em all.... :( BTW we came in 14th place. I just want to congratulate Ken Blume (Go2Guy on the board) and Tracy, and Shupee for doing a great job on some of the toughest obstacles to date. You guys rule!

I read in a mag. recently that the purse was like $52k. Largest ever in any rockcrawling event. Think it was Fourwheeler.

I didn't actually get to talk to JR last night, but left a message saying that they started out day 2 very well. There was one course towards the end of the day that they didn't do too well on (no details) and he thought they increased their final standing by several places. That's all I know for now.

From what I understand the is $52k-$55k was to be split throughout both classes for what ever winners they paid out to. However so far to my knowledge it is the largest purse for one single event.

The winner won about 14k.

this event rocked though..on a fun scale it was one of the best farmington events yet..

super verticle climbs...rock racing..

every team was working thier ass off and some just got unlucky bounces on hte super throttle climbs...

some hard hard rolls....Mike Palmer had a huge hard hit..
anyone remember the Captian american rigs fuel cell pics?? well it broke lol
he had cool paint!!

7-8-9-10 gates were cool - and stratagie (sp) oreinted.

funny thing is at first the course seemed very well layed out for spectators, I was thinking I would get to see almost everybody run at least half the obstacles...But in reality I only saw about 15 rigs run more than one obstacle...But I guess thats what will happen when you got 100 rigs:eek:

my 2nd day I just stayed with 3-4 teams and watched them on 5 gates..

SOOO my only gripes???
the single seater penalty...and NO mud wrestleing in that perfect pond there...

oh and whoever the skater/hippie punk heckler was is lucky he did'nt get dragged in there

hehe....

I am sure you'll all here more as people get home, a couple of the teams went up to Avalanch ranch or had long drives ..I only had a 3 hr drive

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Yeah, several of the guys in our group had "words" with him. He was clueless. He was bad-mouthing everyone's rig at tech, so we asked him where HIS rig was, and he said he lost his license for DUI. Later that night I happened to walk past him in the lobby at the hotel and he was talking on the phone about his day to somebody....all I heard was "yeah, then after that I got stoned." I didn't hear what he said before that, but it was probably, "I woke up this morning."

I have no idea why he was there, but it sure wasn't to make any friends.

Lance , How bad was the rig tore up? Was Mike shook up? We know how he hates to roll! ( but then who does?) Do you think Mike will be building a new rig for next year? Really glad your both ok!
You guys did really good all year, in fact Mike has did well since
he started in competition. His first year he finised in the Top 10.
Since then you guys been one of the top 5 finishers at every event you have entered. Not bad!!! Most of us have a lot more off days then what you guys had this last weekend.

I know, :D SUCK IT! WINNING IS EVERYTHING!:D

106 entrants X $550 entry (someone correct me if I'm fawked on this) makes it pretty easy to justify that purse ;)

How come ya'll done put a D60 under that thing. If I remember right this is the second time that I have read about ya'll kickin ass then breaking soemhting on the front and loosing the lead.

I dont think yall could break a 60. Would the weight be that big of a difference? I guess clearance is an issue.

I'd be scared having my fate riding on a D44 all the time IMO.

Need to note that winners of qualifing events did not have to pay entry fees. I also think they had some 'provisional' type entries that did not have entry fees.

My buddy Troy and I didn't do so hot this weekend, but we sure had a blast. Thanks to whoever it was who made the "peach juice"... and Mike... check your camera yet? :flipoff2:

BTW Troy and I discussed the simultaneous pimp slap on that skateboarding hippie...what a forking loser... sad thing is he left the bar with some chick, and all i left with was Troy. Damn New mexico women, I need bigger tires. :D

Congrats to all PBB competitors.

When will the entire finishing list be coming out?

I am sure there must of been someone making a video of the event. Does anyone know who it was?

Ryan
10-14-2002, 10:25 AM
Okay, to answer a few questions in random order:

Invictus productions is making the video(and may have exclusive rights, not sure). Hammerdown 2, and I would imagine the Supercrawl video, will be available in Walmart:eek:

www.hammerdown4x4.com

Taking the following payout into consideration(from the UROC rules), we got $500 for 5th in Legend Class, and the total purse for the event was $56,000(as stated by Craig at the awards ceremony). With a little math, you can figure out what everybody got payed. Payout percentages were the same for both classes.

First: 57%
Second: 25%
Third: 12%
Fourth: 4%
Fifth: 2%
Sixth and down: sponsor donations may be issued.

Anyway, GREAT event:cool:

Go2Guy
10-14-2002, 10:26 AM
I'm pretty sure these guys are doing the video, I hope they show more than just the carnage.

I'd like to see the final spread sheets on the different stages if anyone has it to post.:D

Ryan
10-14-2002, 10:30 AM
Just as a side note, Invictus makes KILLER videos. Hammerdown 1 doesn't even have a ton of really great footage in it, and it's still one of my favorite videos. I guess they've been making mountain biking videos for a long time, and they just know how to put together a killer video.

I didn't get to watch him much but from what i here he was his normal self. Rolled at least twice, busted a center out of his front wheel on one roll Sat. Friday he destroyed his plexi hood came back with cardboard strapped over the engine the next day.

Still smiling and still goin for it. I'd guess he finished middle of the pack, was 37th in points after day one.

He rolled more times in that event than he had all season combined  The one he had on the first obstacle Friday really rung his bell. I could see how that would shake up anyones weekend. He put it on it's side on obstacle 9 like 4-5 times. Each time he backed out of it. Finally it laid over too far and he pushed it back over with Tim (his spotter). Went at it one more time and ended up rolling 3 times down the obstacle. Said he counted to 10 from the time it left the ground until the final hit  His back was bothering him after that.

Anyway, GREAT event:cool:

....from this we can deduce the following....

Each class...

1st- $14,250 = Oh yeah baby, the kinfolk said, Jed move away from there!

2nd- $6250 = I'm buying my baby a boob job!

3rd- $3000 = A week in the Bahamma's sounds nice!

4th- $1000 = Repairs to the comp rig!

5th- $500 = Beer's on me!

Clearly, the 5th place competitor is the one to make friends with....okay...maybe the guy in 2nd too.
