Old news for a lot of you, I'm sure. But, for the rest:
“Evidence obtained by SFI shows that over a period of years Impact Racing has engaged in the production and use of counterfeit SFI conformance labels and patches and affixed them to Impact products for use in motorsports,” the statement said. All Impact products would be decertified as of April 27,2010.

Wow, this was shocking news to us as well. The helmets are really high quality and my first WRC I raced with an Impact Helmet and several rock racing events.

Recently at the WRC MEXICO, the FIA tech staff did not approve the new Impact Spider Model Helmet because it was lacking a new FIA Hans Device tag. When I wrote my new friend and the FIA Tech mainman Jerome, he replied in return...
Ponce, the problem with the impact helmets was that the FIA silver sticker (FIA Standart 8858-2002) was not fitted on it.
(of course, this was not a FIA-8860 standard helmet !).

Luckily my co driver Bill Bridge and I, had some back up helmets that my good friend and Costa Rican WRC racer Remy Espinosa let us borrow for the race, along with the Hans. Gracias Remy :grinpimp:

Here is what Impact helmets emailed us in reponse...
Greetings and from what I understand, this may not effect the (helmets only), but all other products, but I do not know this for sure. It is my understand and only this at this time, helmet may be excluded from this, but once again, this is only from what I hear.
I have tried to contact Impact Race Products and no luck and I can imagine things are not going well from them right now. Stay in touch and we will see what happens next,
thank you,
I really hope they can fix this mess because those helmets are sweet and work great when it comes down to ventalation.

Well that is shocking considering that Impact is ran by the founder of Simpson Racing Products.

Glad to hear the SFI issue is resolved, now let's see if the FIA silver sticker (FIA Standart 8858-2002) issue gets resolved as quickly.

So, to summarize:
Anything made by Impact in 2009 and later is good to go (de-cert has been lifted).
However, anything made from 2005 through 2008 is still being de-certified.
... kinda' steams my undies that I just dropped 2-hundy on a new Impact helmet.
