: 4wheelparts,piss me off!!!
Dirtdragon 10-13-2002, 12:35 AM I just bought a "suspension system" for my 85 4runner. I paid for it monday. The first sales person I spoke to quoted me 337 plus tax for there cheepo 4" lift with 4 springs,4 shocks,u-bolts ect. I suposely locked in that price the end of sept. and was told it would be good for awhile. when I called last week the sales ass. checked to make sure everything was good(price 337) I was assured over the phone it would be good till this week.I went in on this monday as was told that the genuine suspension was really pro-comp.AND the PRICE was 399 plus tax and maybe shipping. I was pissed:mad: the sales guy got a manager. He explain he could not honor the orginal price the best he could do after much Heated talk was 400.19 out the door.....I said ok I screwed up for not buying it in the store last week. so I paid.Went to pick it up today, and they tried to give me front springs and rear blockss,THIS is after waiting 15 minutes for someone to get around to helping me.I was Pissed off all over. After some rechecking I got rear springs and the rest of the kit(I showed the manager and sales person their ad showing what you get) I hope the mf'er fits....don't think I will be visting there store agin soon:mad:
rochog 10-13-2002, 12:43 AM I used:D to work for them and that is about there speed
joes75bronco 10-13-2002, 01:01 AM I bought 1 thing from them. I wasnt satisfied at the length of time they took to get it. other than that I suppose I dont have too much of a problem with them....
and who can forget the L/S situation of a few days ago that 75% of us on here got laughed at by them.
other than that they're ok. I'll try my hardest not to go back. just the fact that I've heard a lot more bad stories than good.
RE:Todd 10-13-2002, 09:45 AM DirtDragon, you wasted your money. You should get over to the Toy board and start doing some research.
Dirtdragon 10-13-2002, 10:04 AM Todd you are most likely correct...
If I'am not happy with the lift I will probly throw it on the 4runner that I sell (I have two stock 85s now).Just trying to keep costs down rite now. I still need a set of marlin 4.7 gears, another 23 spline transfercase, detroit locker for a turbo third,a twin case adapter, tires, crossover steering, and a bunch of time to put it together(parts mentioned above + swaping out the 22re for a 22retc)
next time I will try allpro or waggys and chevs
broncobsession 10-13-2002, 10:45 AM I had them screw me too. I wanted to buy some tires at Christmas but was low on cash. I thought I had a good deal with a price match so I told the guy I wanted them, but to call me with a shipping quote BEFORE he ran my credit card. Shipping turned out to be $230, negating my price match, so I told him to cancel and he wouldn't. Said they were already on a pallet and he would charge me 15% to take them off and put them back on the shelves. I was freakin pissed, but he wouldn't do anything to help. Haven't and won't buy anything from them ever again.

NOTPRETTY 10-13-2002, 11:13 AM Another 4WPW story....
In my early days, I had them do my front ARB in my EB. Apparently, I got lucky and someone who actually had set up some gears was working that day. Well...sort of lucky. It began to leak (Air) right away and I opened the cover to find the line was plumbed in such a way that the diff hit the line and sliced it beyond repair. Apparently they had set up gears...pattern was great/I got lucky...but never done the plumbing. I popped out the diff and replaced the line myself for fear they might screw it up worse. But, how hard is it to rotate the diff and make sure the line is clear before you button things up. Trust me this was not done. Expansion and contraction could not created this problem. It was sliced on the first rotation.
My buddy was not so 'lucky'. He put a 60R in the back of his YJ. The jackasses at 4WPW put in the locker and set up the gears because he wasn't comfortable doing it himself nor did he have the tools. They did it so wrong it virtually ruined the entire rearend. New boggers kept him from hearing much. I seriously think they forgot to tork the cap bolts and backlash...well let's just say they weren't close. Also, no sealant on the hole/fitting for the air line. When he finally went back to them for restitution...they gave him the run-around. They did pay for a new Air locker, which frankly shocked me considering their history on weaseling out of this type of crap, but the rest was his problem.
Anyway, if you do your research you can usually finds someone you trust and at the same price. OR...do it yourself...I do now. But, then you only have you to blame.
:rasta:
I love 4wheelparts... tastes like chicken :D

Dirtdragon 10-13-2002, 03:16 PM Being a cheap bastard is what got me into this mess,The front pro-junk springs only 39$ american each the rears 70$ each. In retro I guess I should have saved up my lunch money and called all-pro....anyone ever deal with nwor or aor?
Arnold 10-13-2002, 04:04 PM NWOR is da bomb.:flipoff2:
if you like 4wp your gonna love nwor. :D avoid them and downey.
all-pro , AOR , and alcan are all first class springs.
there is a saying. poor people can't afford to be cheap.
your gonna end up doing it twice. :D
Dirtdragon 10-13-2002, 05:10 PM Thanks Camo. Any opion of aor/allpro/allcan vs. waggys and chev springs?, I wouldn't mind spending the extra bucks for all pro/allcan/or aor if they bolt right on and provide alot of flex.:)

John Deere Ranger 10-13-2002, 07:06 PM WHo has had a good experiance from 4wpw?
I don't know why i keep buying from them but they keep screwing up..... i think its cuz they price match......
GJarrett 10-13-2002, 07:41 PM On a personal level if you can find a good employee 4WPW works. There is a guy in Dallas named Scott that was much help and makes things right.
However, now that I moved to SC I just tried to buy a set of Rockcrawler rims to set some 35" MT/R's on via their phoneline. I have dealt with nothing but a$$holes from square one. They shipped me the wrong rims, then told me I was SOL because according to David whom I talked to, that I ordered black spoke rims with 4.5" backspacing and he specifically remembered our conversation and I was full of it. Like I want to give them my credit card to charge me to receive something I have no interest in in the first place  Mr. expert David got NOTHING right except that they were supposed to be 15x8 rims, and he flat out told me that he remembered our conversation and that I was wrong. He didn't get the backspacing right and he totally missed the style of rim. How can you possibly mistake a black spoke style from a chrome star wheel, huh?
4WPW is charging me TWICE so that I can get the wheels I originally ordered that they screwed the order on because they will not release the wheels I ordered in the first place without payment even though it was their mistake in the first place. Treating the customer right seems to be a foreign concept to them. They won't release the first order that THEY screwed up until they get it back; meanwhile, I'm paying interest for their mistake on my credit card until it gets settled.
Well, sort of. I am an experienced accountant and will come out on the top end of this little tussle. I'll play their own game and use it against them :D
ukjeeper 10-13-2002, 11:18 PM I haven't had problems yet. Most of the oringinal buildup on my old YJ was done at the Burbank store, where there were experienced wrenches working who gave a S**T about their work.
I still get parts from 4WPW, mainly coz the sales manager at my company is tight with the sales manager at Compton... I get my s**t at cost!! :flipoff2:
But i don't get any work done there anymore....
Sillyneck 10-13-2002, 11:48 PM f#ck 4wpw
I used to deal w/ them. Just about everytime I was in there is was "Okay I'm not dealing w/ you put me on the phone w/ the corp office."
Most of the guys at all of them now are retarded. you aren't talking to wheelers anymore...and the guys in .....
ahhh fuck it....it's not woth my time ya'll know they suck
