: BDS Springs SOA???

Has anyone used their 3.5" springs (5 leaves)on a SOA? I have these springs on a SUA right now and am planning on doing the flip soon. Just wondering if anyone has any concerns or advice. This is the second set I have had as the first set lost 2" of lift after 5 months of use, so Im not to sure if I want to use them or not. Plus I'am finding their flex to be pretty limiting on my set-up right now.

Thanks
Greg

I use the 2.5" BDS springs on mine right now. After 3 years of wheelin they are finally showing their age. They have sagged maybe an inch in the front (winch prob caused that) and minimal loss in the rear. They are broke in really good and flex awesome.

I also use the 2" Wranglers on my SOA CJ7. The front has been great, flexes like a big dog and just a little sag. The rear I had to replace 3 times due to wrap, so I installed a Rancho full length add-a-leaf and a small stock Wrangler leaf on the bottom of the pack. So far, no wrap and after two trips they are flexing better. Best thing about the BDS springs has to be the warranty, I returned 3 sets of them, no questions asked.

Oh, that's real funny ya bastard!!

OK, that was the first trip on the new packs in the rear and YES, they flexed like your grandma sitting on the toilet!!

That was also after about 6 miles of trail, hardly enough to break in a new spring pack.

So Joe!!!!

Here's a pic at Rubicon Springs a couple of weeks ago, better on the flex but not a great example.

I'm about to use 4" BDS CJ springs soa with a d60 in the front. Has anyone done that before, and if so, how does it work? SUA, they are so damned stiff that I can't get ANY flex out of em!

Trying to get a D60 bolted up today. Won't have any idea what it will work like for quite a while. No where near moving on it's own yet.

This is the same problem I find with my springs...I may as well run "I-beams" for suspension. Stiff as hell and no flex.

Hey Putz...don't you think that if you have to return 3 sets of springs it may be time to go with a different manufacturer?

I wouldn't use BDS if they gave em to me for FREE!

Well, yea, but once you've laid out the chinga, they don't refund, just replace. I told myself that this was the last time I was getting under that damn thing for spring replacement. If these had failed or fail, I will be going with something else, maybe RE SO springs.

Do the RE SOA springs come tall enough???? I thought I remembered them only coming in like 1 or 2 inch lift springs???

Kendo
09-21-2001, 03:15 PM
Yea, 1.5", but they're made for SOA, reverse eye and all. I would expect they wouldn't sag out since they're made for it.

I'm thinking 44044's next time around. Supposed to be nice and flexy, 2.5" lift and a bit longer than the Wranglers. Wanna buy my BDS's??

in that pic it had 79 ford 1/2 ton axles, rc d44 5.13 gears lockright performance unlimeted tie rod and drag link and parts mike arms on bds 3 inch d44 steering blocks on 3.4 ton 79f250 flat top knuckles and warn chromolies. the rear axle was a 9 inch with 5.13 detriot and 31 spline axles. it also had the 4.0 ax15 and np231 with advance sye. tires are 37 boggers on 15x10. springs are soa bds with 1 1/2 inch shackles also in the rear.
its dif now. it currently has a d60 front 14 bolt rear detriots in both with 5.13 gears and discs on both. tbi 350 th350 and d300 with 32 spline output. avalanche steering arms, tie rod and d link. has custom front fenders, avalanche rear competition corners and bds 4 inch waggy springs in the rear for extra wheelbase. also has a custom flat skid now cause i clocked the d300.

Ken,
It's amazing the love you fellow pron starz show you. Is that how it is in that business.
When you are ready to make those springs perform come on over and we will pull them apart and add some flex to them. I might even let you run my course here. If you can without tipping over.
