Anyone know if someone makes mountain bike shorts with butt pads and if so who's the best? Thanks

I had a pair from FOX that were pretty slick. Zip up pockets, padded and had spandex liner similar to a regular pair of road bike shorts. Very comfortable.

Similar to these, but a little shorter. http://shop.foxracing.com/ecomm/AutoForward.do?forward=home.pagedef#aforward=asyn&proId=20525&cid=147&cname=Shorts&proNumber=26082&imgName=26082001F.jpg

EVO makes some sick crash pad shorts. They're spandex w/ crash pads all on the sides, tailbone, and hips, quads. I wear these under my regular shorts and they are comfy and help with the falls.

I have some FOX shorts, they are nice. Look like regular shorts with all the padding.

Most guys around here use the lacra racing shorts (spandex) then put mountian biking shorts overtop. ride for hours:bounce2::bounce:

I love the FOX shorts. Inner short is comfy/padded/vents well.

I've never found a pair of baggies with a decent chamois.
Most are just soft cotton pads with no real shape to them.
I ripped the liners from all mine (Foxes and Zoics included) and just wear the shells over good quality roadie junk haulers.

I've gotten a few house brand baggies from nashbar.com and I like them even better than the Zoics that I have. They're less than half of the price too.

I wish I had some baseball sliding shorts on last week...
Coming down a nice two track, without my shades on, kinda' cold, watery eyes, when, all of a sudden, I notice there was a 'gate/fence' across the trail.
Grabbed the binders and ended up sliding on my side into the fence.

Yeah, I need some shorts with hip padding too!

Are you talking about baggies with a chamois or are you talking about downhill type crash pads ?

When I used to race DS , I used Crashpads. They are tough and work well

i have always liked the sugoi baggies. i have a pair of the expensive sugoi lycra only shorts that i wear baggies over but to me they have to much padding. the baggies with the linings in them are just right for me and i also use a skinny specialized phenom gel seat.

I have had older Fox shorts but the inner layer was perforated and itched like a SOB so I cut that out and just wore them over some nice perlizumi shorts. I have also tried Specialized not too bad, but my favorite ones are Gore. Gore is as the name leads on made by the makers of Goretex and are really good stuff.

At my age (48) I don't need to leave any flesh on the trail anymore.
I like those extra padded shorts (or undershorts.) I'd be curious
how they feel in an XC event.
I'm willing to accept a bit less then 'perfect fit' in order to keep the hips from getting torn up. I still think I'm a good DH guy and find myself in less than perfect control often enough....

That's what I do. Generally have a good quality lycra short with a chamois and then cut off BDU's. I refuse to wear just the plum smuggler lycra.
I've also use zoic and fox baggies that had decent chamois liners.

Fox shorts cut out the shit liner and buy some perlizumi bike shorts.

Since most of the shops have Fox on sale now, I bought a couple of pairs.
I don't know guys, but they fit for shit. I raced with a pair on week before last and went home and cut out the liner.
I'll wear my lycra for racing and use the shorts over them when out trail riding...
