Need answers/info from anyone who has done a calif-smog legal
efi swap on a jeep 258 motor.

here's the deal... MY brotherinlaw who has money, but not enough time to "deal" with this type of stuff had 4WPW do
a "Mopar fuel injection" swap on his 89 wrangler. this was
quite awhile ago, and this rig needs to get smogged so it
can be registered. (out of date since 99)

so, it had been taken to a smog ref here in San Jose and it
was failed. I do not know the exact failure rating.

I do know this: the "Check engine light" wire is not hooked
up to anything.

the motor is/was stock prior to this EFI swap.

is there supposed to be any pertinent decals from the
mopar EFI parts added to the vehicle?

thanks for your input(s) on this.

unfortunately it wasn't "sold" to me. 4wpw did the swap.
brotherinlaw isn't very informed on such matters.
I'm left holding the bag on this. But once it's cleared and reg'd
then I'm going to use this rig for awhile before I give it back.

I believe the "kit" should have come with a CARB sticker that should've been put on the hood. But you really need to try to find out WHY it failed, could be something like missing the sticker, or a bad gas cap (yes they pressure test them)....ALL the dash lights need to work as well, so fix the check engine light....

I think it's like $20 to get a "pre-smog" witch should tell you everything that needs to be fixed, but not sure if you can do it on a test only ....
