: Recommend a good vehicle lift

My dad needs to put a vehicle lift in his new warehouse to help with vehicle inspections when he needs to and to use when he is working on project cars. He wants one with an 8000 lb capacity, good quality but doesn't need to be very fancy and is fairy easy to install (aka doesn't need to do any foundation work besides bolting to the slab that's already down). Also he needs it by the end of April at the latest.

Any suggestions?

Mowhawk 10,000 lb. two post. None better. No cables across the floor, none across overhead. Run the hydraulic lines clear to the cieling and run it !!!
Find a dealer local and he may even have a used one.

Mohawks seem to be great if you recently hit the lottery. I'd search, lots of threads here. Even more threads on lifts at garagejournal.com, but also a lot more hobby types there who seem to think 2 posts are scary, so you'll have to weed thru all the 4 post discussion.

My Bendpak was purchased thru an ebay vendor and drop shipped from CA. I had it in SW Colo within a few business days, so I think your 4/30 deadline is no concern.

Does it have to be a lift? What about a rack that the car dealers use? The type that has four post and a ramp. Drive the car up the ramp, then it tilts forward settling on all 4 posts.

thats the one I have and I love it. Zero complaints, built very solidly. Ive seen generic chinese 10,000lb lifts that were nowhere near built as well as my 9,000lb lift. It was right around $2,000 and arrived at my house 2 days after I ordered it.

I had very good service and quick shipping from greg smith equipment as well (although ptschram will disagree as soon as he sees this)

When the owner of the company lies to you, says that you were rude to the tech guy and then tells you the customer is not always right, you'd feel the same way I do.

After spending damned more than three grand, I expected a little better when one of the things I bought from him didn't work right out of the box and he reneged on the deal to replace it. It was bad enough I had to take it back to his store on my dime, but then they refused to replace it. His warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on.

Deal with Greg Smith at your own risk.

FWIW P.T. isn't the only one that feels that way.
I have read that on more than one forum.
I'd spend 3500 to 4 grand on a used Mohawk before I'd spend a dime with Smith.
Friends of mine have 3 Mowhawks in their shop they use every day. NO issues.
The Mowhawk service rep. in our area is excellent also. And has been a rep for years.

That's a helluva price for a quality lift delivered. That's usually what Danmars or other chinese lifts would go for. Do they claim this model is ALI certified? Was this just standard drive-thru clearance?

We decided to go with a Bendpak 10k because they seem to have good reviews and are reasonably priced and don't have reviews of terrible customer service. And the mowhawk would have been overkill for his needs. Thanks for everyone's input

I'd be interested to hear what you think of quality and ease of install!
Post some pictures of install and how it comes packed, if you have time.
