Might need to be in Newbie section but since I'm building hardcore rig thought I would post here. I have found a kingpin 60 front, 70 rear, th400 trans and np 205 transfer case out of 88 1 ton chevy. The same guy has a TBI 350 complete with harness and everything. Said he would sell all to me for $1250.00 Diffs need to be gone through and said motor ran but not sure how many miles. All but motor came from same truck that caught fire. Is there anything I need to look out for from burnt vehicle. Shoud I buy or not. Need some advice. Or flame me if you want, i really don't care.

Kind of ironic, crispified parts vehicle and "flame me if you want to" on the same post :D
deal really depends on how bad the fire was. Are we talking engine fire only, or rig engulfed in flames. really hard to say wihout more info. It could be a killer deal or junk depending on teh amount of damage.

I love Irony. Not engulfed in flames but burnt cab and body pretty bad. Looks like was in barn or something that caught fire. Not sure as of now and guy who has it bought from insurance sale to part out so he don't know for sure.

May as well count on doing every seal and gasket. Might also want to check that if it's a dually, that could change your plans. A single wheel truck should have had a 14ff out back.

It is a dually. So I guess I would need to do SRW conversion. What's that usually run. Only reason Im considering is the deal for everything to change drivetrain in my Jeep to one ton and V-8. Kind of one stop shop.

ask if you can do a compression test on the engine, at least that way you know how loose it is inside

kp 60's sale for close to that...around here anyways...so what if you have to change seals and gaskets.....I found used srw hubs in the pirate classifieds for $200 for the pair...I say do it.

If that truck was a dually pick-up, that rear is gonna be way too wide. If it was a cab/chassis, good to go.

For everything it sounds like a good deal to me. Even if you have to replace seals and stuff on it I'd still think it was worth it. If it's not scorched, it's probably ok. If it's scorched, it might have warped or weakened some of the metal.

Id say it really depends on what everything looks like. If all the parts are in good shape minus some seals then it is a good deal.
