Shane (Rude Zuk) and I discussed strategy before the event and I decided to drop tire size to 35 inch, as I just couldn't compete with the BIG guys. Shane stated this is how I wheel and this is what I am used too.

Well the 35-inch Class went first and no one was making the course. In the first 10 rigs approx, the only ones making it were the Sammy's. Did not matter if it was a built tube frame type or just a basic spring over on a hard top.

Carnage left and right. Jeeps, Broncos, Toyota’s, did matter. The course was tough only because it was under time. Otherwise it wasn’t too bad or big.

My first run was a complete one but the time was horrible 8:36 on a 10 min slot. The second run was much better as I had the line down. When we got to the end I was high centered and the Judge was counting down the seconds. I yelled out at my spotter Winch! WINCH! WINCH!!! He yells back “To What?” I responded with “To that tube rig, or to the Recovery Tractor” He grabs the line hooks up and I hit the switch. Nailed the throttle and launched off the rocks at what sounded like 9000 RPM’s.

We crossed the line and the one judge states 3:35. The other Judge asks 3:35 and what? First judge responds with 3:35:34. Second Judge says at loud “Cut off time was 3:35:35 he is in by 1/10th of a second”

Shane’s (Rude Zuk) turn came up later in the night. His first run like mine was just to figure out the line. By his second run he had it down and popped over the first set of rocks and off he went.

But by this time the BIG Tire boys had tore up the track and he found all the holes that swallowed up his rig. He was robbed of his third run when the event ran out of time.

I was beat out of 3rd place by 20 seconds Oh Well… Had a blast cannot wait to do this again…..

So they scored by time as well or only time? Looks like fun:) was that the only obs?

No penalty points just a drag race about 150 yards long. Hit the fun pedal and go like hell… Not really Rock Crawling, but it was advertised as Area Rock Racing…

I was rooting you guys on the whole way. That begining rock was a little too difficult for my taste. I would have liked to seen a few more vehicles make it past it. Maybe an easier begining and a longer course would have been better. Hey shane man I was trying to tell the announcer (name please?) not to let the Chevy run cause he was just going to get stuck and waiste the last few minutes we had. He just shrugged at me and let the chevy go. Which I guess is fair but just stupid! What damage did you guys take out there?
