: What is the difference between a Dually D60 and a standard D60?

What is the difference? I heard the Dually ones are cheaper, so why? Do they have 35 spline outers? Is the only difference the distance the hub sticks out after taking off the dually portion?

I know another guy just asked this qustion...kind of. I am looking to get a better response.

the difference is the width of the housings, duallies are usally around 63" from WMS to WMS, and the fullsize SRW is around 67"

the only difference i have ever seen is the hubs, same spindle, calipers, stub shaft, bearings, seals.

so the dually is narrower???

No

It is more narrow. :flipoff2:

No, the dually front axle is NOT narrower than a single wheel axle. We all know that a SRW bearing hub is mounted to the rotor by the wheel studs, a DRW bearing hub is held onto rotor with nuts and bolts. There is an additional stud flange cast onto the hub at the outer end that is almost even with the end of the hub snout. This outer flange is where the wheel studs are, because of this the WMS is roughly 6" or 7" farther out (per side) than a SRW axle.

The only difference between the SRW and DRW axles is the bearing hub itself. If you have a dually axle you can convert it to SRW by replacing the hubs or having the DRW hub mounting flange machined off (Wagoner Machine can do this). The caliper, caliper bracket, spindle and rotor are all interchangeable between the two.

**NOTE - if you are using the DRW rotors on a SRW hub you will need to drill open the stud holes in the rotor to the correct size to fit the studs.**

This is all great information. Please give me more...

Also, are the outer shafts the same...30 spline?

So, you are saying that it is not as simple as I think...I was thinking of just unbolting the DRW portion, and putting in new lug bolts...So, what is the cost of doing all this? Is it worth it, or should I just buy a SRW?

Sorry, I was thinking rear diffs.

The cost of DRW to SRW conversion is usually pretty strong. I think WMS gets something around $250 for the machine work
(plus freight) to change the hubs to SRW, to just buy the hubs out right (from Ebay for instance) is usually around $300-$400. If you have access to a SRW axle for just a little more money I'd skip the DRW and go for the SRW axle. Either style axle is going to have 1.5" / 35 spline inner axles and 1.3" / 30 spline outer axles.

For the record, a DRW rear axle from a 73 - 91 square body style, full body pick up is wider than a standard a SRW rear axle by roughly 11". The reason they are wider is to keep the inner tire off of the frame. The only DRW axles that are shorter than a SRW axle would be from a cab chassis type truck.

Yes, I am interested in a front axle.

I have a friend willing to sell me a dually 60 for $650. I am just not sure how much more I am going to need to spend on it.

DRW hubs

SRW

the only difference is the hubs you can have them machined buy wagoner machine for $250, this is where i had mine done. You will be looking at $25 for shipping oneway. or you could have your local bubba machine them for $100-150 and it'll work. the DRW rotors require a minor modification, the stud hole will have to inlarged to 43/64 (i think) to accept the new SRW studs and thats it.

so if you can get one foe $650 thats not to bad. i say go for it. or you can keep it a DRW and run hummer rims

So, if I run Hummer rims up front, what do I run in the back to keep it the same width? (What axle that is).
