Don't have many ideas, worse comes to worse do a compression check, maybe pull valve covers and see if there's a bent pushrod.
Maybe specify year, engine size, if it has EFI etc. If it's EFI maybe the o2 sensor is bad, not sure if Ford's have these though.
Over time and deductive reasoning I'm sure we'll figure it out.
Is it puking out black smoke?
Maybe fuel starved?
Vaccuum leaks?
At night run it in no light and see if anything is arcing underhood
Possibly wires on fuel pump pissed?? or whole pump could have taken a crap.

its a 1985 bronco, with a 5.0 EFI in it.. it is puffing out a light white smoke.. smells like it is running rich.. very possibly could be either a O2 sensor or a EGr vavle

LOts of white smoke means head gasket. That would definitly make it run like shit. It will get smokier over time, The exhaust will smell like antifreeze as there is anitfreeze seeping into the cylinders and being forced out the exhaust.

check the timing too, the distributor bolt in my block has been known to back out under loads, and then your timing gets all out of whack, so i dunno, just check it!
