: Scouts Cleanup in Chico Event

North Valley 4 Wheel held their 4th annual truck show yesterday. The events were a Rubicon style rock course, mud bog, 30 degree ramp and show and shine. Abba and I won the important parts of the contest.

I placed first in the super modified rock crawl with no penalty points and 19 seconds faster than second place (a Suk) and Abba came in 3rd. Stacy, Abba's wife came in second in the women's event in the rock crawl. My wife didn't compete. My crawl/time was unbelievable. Loren (the Suk owner) had the best time before I went through getting 43 second in the first part and 54 seconds in the second part. I scored a 38 seconds in the first part and 40 seconds in the second part.

Abba placed first in the mud bog and I came in second. A dualie Chevy came in third. I was surprised with my finish since I have just the V6, and a lot of the rigs I beat had small or big blocks. Abba just was amazing in the mud though. He kept on it even after his hi-amp alternator threw an arc to the starter and a small fire started. Then the wiring to his tranny cooler burnt up, but he kept on it and went about 10 feet further after smoke billowed out.

I have some pics I'll get up but I need to collect some from other people too. Anyone out there have pics or a video of me through the rocks or mud? I didn't get anything of me out there :(

Good work, I enjoyed that show last year, even though my ball joints pushed out. Can't wait to see pics.

Great job Curtis. After going for that ride with you a few years back in the snow, I have no doubts that you made the fastest time of all people out there. You were a nut with that right pedal. Congrats to Abba and his wife as well on their places. I wish I could have been up there for at hat event. I think I would have made the slowest pass with the Slinky. :p

Take it easy and hope to wheel with you guys again soon.

Okay, here's the pics I have. Some are blurry cause the camera focused on the crowd instead of the rigs, but the blurry ones are of Susan Ladd (Mike's wife) driving Sergei's rig in the rocks. It sucks they didn't turn out better :( And, only one of me messing with my clutch adjustment before the rocks.

Sam, it would have been cool to see the slinky up here. You gonna be on the cleanup this week?

5Spd, there were easily hundreds (I would guess close to 500) of spectators and atleast 50 rigs this year.

Jess, I didn't get pics of you cause I was just watching in amazement when that old iron went through the rocks. :D :D

Curtis - Your rig is looking sick. DIg it the most. I will be up there this weekend. I will only be able to go out on the slabs and then I have to head out. I will be mostly concentrating on the very beginning of the trail and up to Loon lake on the slabs.

Hopefully we hook up.

I'm thinking more power for the bolts in forward gears would help them stay tight- maybe we will explore the larger jets ! :D Jess

Hey Scott, thanks for the pics. You should have stopped by to say hi. You gonna be up there this weekend? Need a ride to it? Let me know 865-2981. Also, can you shoot me an email of this pic in full size http://www.quiknet.com/~storage/pirate4x4/chico/curtis2.jpg It's an awesome shot and a good candidate to send in for TTC ;)

Sam, Thanks :D I'm gonna help with cutoff repair. So, we should be able to hook up a bit.

Oh yeah. It's still sitting on the trailer. The mud is falling off on its own. Every so often I'll give it a good smack so more falls off. That shit is sticky and has eaten the rattle can flat black off most parts it came in contact with.

Would you like just that one at full size or all of them? I have like 4-6(guessing) of you I believe. I wasn't at the event, unfortunately, my dad took those pics. I was preparing to go skydiving and going on 37 hours of no sleep, then skydiving got cancelled due to high winds, so I went home and slept :D

I really wish I could go up this weekend, but the skydiving is rescheduled for saturday. :( Work is killing me lately. Sweeps is coming up so I'm filming all these 'extreme' sports and jobs and events and stuff. Veryyyy time consuming. Owell, it's all good and I get to experience lots of things I normally wouldn't get to do.

If for any reason it gets cancelled or postponed again, I'll give you a call FO SHO!!! :) I think your sco*t is the only one I have actually enjoyed riding in. lol. well, what's left of 'sco*t' that is :D lol.

Skydiving. No thinks :flipoff2:

It was a fun event and I could have sworn I saw your dad but wasn't quite sure. Anyway, post 'em all up full size some where. I'll nab them.

Just keep in mine we'll give you a ride to the cleanup if you need. It's a nice smooth ride in a Suburban to the trail now ;)

Thanks for the pics.

Yeah we bought a trailer and an 87 Burb to go in style. At 40, I'm too old to bounce around in the Scout for 200 miles to the 'con. Anyway, we'll probably leave Friday late morn/early afternoon.

oh ok Curtis. Thank you for the offer, but I'll have to pass this time. I know for a fact I will have to work Friday night, its hs football season. I'll just hope that the winds aren't bad so I can jump outta a perfectly good airplane. :D As soon as I get my truck to pass smog, we should hook up and do some of the awesome local trails here. :)

Hahaha I still have mud on my manifold From the 2001 compition, It too ate away all the paint it came in contact with. I swear I can still knock it and have clumps fall out of somewhere.
