I have an NP203, I was simply going to put the milemarker shaft kit in it and go about my business. Problem is, I can't seem to find this kit for under $400. I was thinking this was going to be a $250 fix plus hubs not $400 plus hubs. So here is my dilemma; I found a couple of NP205's for $250 but they were behind a 4-spd and I have a TH350. Can the 205 be easily/cheaply changed to fit behind the automatic? Or, am I spending the same money either way? I'm not looking for an argument about which one is the better case, I'm looking for the cheapest way to get this truck rolling. Thanks for all the input.

first off you should search for np205 to get shitloads of info, but ive got nothing better to do but finish my drink before i fuck the shit out of my girlfriend, so here we go.

dont waste your time on the 203. i did. the mile marker kit was a joke. i had it installed by a professional tranny shop and it grenaded in less than a year. i swapped in a 205 and have never looked back.

all you gotta do is find the 205/th350 adapter plate.
i found mine at a JY for less than $50.

Well if you want cheap and it isn't your daily driver just leave the 203 alone and put some locking hubs in and call it good.

If you plan on driving it alot then look around on craigslist or at the junk yard for the 205 adapter and other pieces on the cheap.

See, this is where things get all screwed up. I've searched and read probably 100 different posts on this subject. So let me make sure I have this straight.
I need the adapter plate and, if the case is a SM465 case I will need to replace the output shaft?

205's from behind 465's and t350's have different input shafts, 10 and 27 splines respectively. find a 27 spline 205, find and adapter, buy some hubs, and go.

Thanks, after I asked the question I found a couple of posts that are about 2 years old. Looks like that will be the way to go. Now to educate myself on identifying the 27 spline version *other than counting, since the one's I've found so far the person selling doesn't know what they came out of* and see if I can find one.

The 27 spline 205's also use a coupler, so if you find one with more than 10 coarse splines and it has a coupler it should be a 205 from a th350.

Those 205 cases are a dime a dozen. If you need one i have one.

Don't quote me, but even if you come accross a male 10 spline 205 from a 465 you can buy a coupler from AA that will go from 27 to 10.

So step one is get a 205.

yes, i had my hands on one on monday.

there is a guy on www.wheelindixie,com that was selling a part time kit for $75.

also remember that if you swap to a 205 you will need to changer your drive shafts $$$
