My friend has a 90 model jeep yj, He called me and told me that his steering column was very loose, so i took a look at it , and It is very bad , I started to tear into it , but it got to late . So, does anyone have any info as to what this could be , or how to fix it , and is it unsafe to drive right now ? ( you can take the steering wheel , and move it all the way up and down , without using the tilt arm) Thanks for any and all help

There are 4 inverted torx head bolts deep inside the column, you can normally get to 2 of them, they are notorious for backing out. it is VERY hard to get to all 4 but if you can get 2 snuged back up you will be okay...
Finding a inverted torx socket will be fun...

I believe that's what he means. Besides the "normal" torx tool that
kind of look like a screwdriver bit there are ones that look like a
socket. I got a set at Sears. I also think the Quadratec sells them.

As did mine.......... I always thought that's what they were called. Those are the little bastards that held my starter on until I switched them with normal bolts.
