What axels are in this truck? I looked all over and came up with no "good" info. The truck is an hour away from my place or i would just go look.

Everything I have ever read or seen indicates that Chevy did not start using the D60 front axle until 1977. If that holds true, the truck should have a D44 front and a D70HD rear (assuming it's not a cab chassis truck).

Go look at the truck...

I don't think there is any such thing as a '76 dually 4X4. '77 was the first year.

so we have it down to it a 60, 14 bolt..no no..its a 44hd, 70..and there was no dually in 76..LOL. So if it is a 77 not a 76 it will be a 60, 14bolt right? please tell me its a 60, 14 since im only paying $250 CAN for the truck!

Go look at the Friggin truck! How can anybody here tell what it is, you don't even know what year it is!

A 77 dually 4x4 would have come with a D60 front and a D70HD rear. The only way it would have a 14 bolt rear is if it was originally a cab chassis truck.

It's probably a HD D44 if it is a 1976. I just went through the same thing with a 1976 K30 4x4. Phone the seller and ask how many U-bolts it has. D44 has 4 u-bolts holding the axle to the springs, while the D60 has 3 u-bolts, 2 on the drivers side, one on the passenger side. Also, on the D60, one spring mount is actually cast into the spring perch on the axle housing. Check this picture out for a better explanation. Look at the axle, you'll see only 3 ubolts vs 4 ubolts you'd find on a D44. Hope this helps.

I think that black dog is right about the year being 77. When you go to car-parts.com all 76 dually's ifo says DRW 4x2 and when you put in 77 up pops 4x4. I thinks it will be a 60 i will let you know next wed. when i pick it up.
