Flopped the XJ twice in Moab this week. I want to at least clean up some on the major body work and then paint/diamond plate the heep this winter. Any good writeups on how to prep, welding on body, etc.

I have an airless painter for spraying houses, but this won't work for spraying cars, I am told.

Thanks

Pics will be back on photodisc later this week.

I was surprised at the relative lack of carnage this week. Someone (i forget the name) laid their 98-ish red XJ on its side on the Sunday before the official runs. Took out windshield, a pillar, pass side front door and glass. Much uglier than mine. I trailered my rig for the first time and there is a total mind-shift when you know all you have to do is get your rig to your trailer, not 1000 miles home. Let's just say I drove with extreme prejudice. I spent most of the week following Sean Rose (onetonXJ on this board) and during a night run on Lower Proving Grounds I slipped into a v notch going down and landed on my door. Handle is smashed but every thing works and my glass is OK. just looks ugly. Then the next day I drove Escalator behind SeanR and my rear tire slipped into the hole and again landed on my drivers door. Rather than drive it out, I took a winch to take the weight off the door.

Apparently, my run out of mickey's hot tub will be posted on BigOffRoad.com site. Damn I love my skinny pedal.

Bloose...he's got a Red Classic. Hope it wasnt him, that rig is immaculate.

Yeah, it can be fun following SeanR...ran behind him here at Paragon during the NAC-Fest on VooDoo.

I read Beez's "SAPA" (self adjusting pinion angle) didnt work as expected... :flipoff2:

Glad it was a good time overall, post pics when you get em.

Come on Sean P, I thought the rock rash gave your Jeep some character!!

Body work is all about the preperation to get a decent finish, not something you want to be spending time on - what the heck Bondo, #80 grit, and Durabak worked for me!!

Good to meet ya, Rusty Nail was fun on Saturday, I trashed an axle shaft, there were two stops for welding repairs, Bones broke his t/c shaft on Double Whammy.

Beezil and Bones were still contemplating repairs when we left on Sunday.
