: Pigs Across Asheville
Kaderabek 10-14-2002, 06:04 AM Pigs Across Asheville was a smashing success. Me, myself, my daughter Thames, and I spent the better part of Saturday wheeling the urban jungle of Asheville. NC. Trekked on out to Baby's R Us via the relatively tame I240 trail, found out that a lullaby mobile costs more than a power steering pump. Backtracked this trail over to Pet's Delights where we ballasted the Pig with 80 pounds of dog food, and a squeaky toy. From there we bumped our way down the Central Street connector loop to buy a NYT and the latest Bob the Builder book. On up treacherous Merrimon Avenue gulch to stops at the auto parts store for oil and filters, the liquor store (picking up a few items for the wife, of course), and finally locked her into 4L and braved our way into the Ingle's grocery store parking lot, pulled a little cable but otherwise we had a gallon of milk into the Pig in 5 minutes flat. Phew, after all that we were beat so headed out to Little Pigs Barbecue, where we dined on pig in the Pig in the shadow of their pig sign (this was most likely the high point of the expedition). Back through the urban jungle to pick up some antibiotics for child #2, then we called it a day. Got up early Sunday, broke camp and drove the Pig solo to St. Eugene's Catholic church, where the lot was full and I had to wheel her over onto some really slippery grass. Skipped out after communion, headed over to Grace Episcopal church, where the 55 counted her blessings, and I got a muffin and some coffee (why does a relative agnostic attend two churches in one day? News at 11...). From there we battled the stop and go of Merrimon Ave. again, bought another paper, and headed back to the corral. Oh yeah, Pigs Across Asheville -- we rock.

Spyder 10-14-2002, 08:59 AM I did one better out in Etowah, not far from your asheville. I spent $86.44 on synthetic fluids for my cruiser. Had a 4 day weekend so I changed the engine oil, transmission fluid, transfer case, and the rear differential, and its true what they say, it is faster.

We heard you had to stack rocks to make it into the parking lot:jester:
Kaderabek 10-14-2002, 09:58 AM Stacked rocks?! Hell, I moved rocks!!
(Rolling Rocks, from the store cooler to the Pig.)

PICS!!!!!!!!
Kaderabek 10-14-2002, 10:07 AM You know, I was going to bring a camera and snap some goofy shots, but I decided I'd just piss people off here by clogging up the board with stupid BS. Wrong decision I guess -- could have taken a sweet one of us eating lunch under the Little Pigs sign.

Dude, you are so out-of-tune with this BB, man:rolleyes: Maybe you are just stuck in your western mode of thinking:D
Kaderabek 10-14-2002, 10:55 AM Yeah, I suppose if contributing stupid BS to this board was banned you wouldn't hear much from me. :D

It's really not that good. Oddly enough, Asheville really lacks for first rate barbecue. The best in the area is Bridges in Shelby, and The Ridgewood in Bluff City, TN, both about an hour away. Ridgewood is arguably the best barbecue I've had, and I'm very picky.
No kids at the Asheville School -- we have a 2 year old at NAPS, and a 5 year old at Asheville Catholic. I went to Sewanee with Van Kusrow, and Ross Peters though, both Asheville School faculty. Had supper with Ross just last Sunday night.
Does your son drive a Cruiser?
