: 77 dodge custom ??????
Brawler 10-14-2002, 06:40 AM Got a friend who has a 1/2 ton dodge custom and he wants to do some mild wheelin. I don't know shit about dodge and he has no idea what it has in it or on it except it does have a 360ci motor. Can someone give me the axle,t-case,tranny specs? Also, what is the lug pattern on these? Thanks.
GRMhick 10-14-2002, 03:04 PM custom was one of the packages dodge offered, they also offered the adventurer, and who knows what else. I have a custom 150, and an adventurer 100. the custom is 2wd, and the adventurer is 4x4. I dunno aboput your buddys truck though. It is kinda like a chevy guy asking what type of axles are under his 98 silverado. they came in 1/2, 3/4 and 1 ton, 2 and 4 wheel drive. But assuming it is a 4wd, it would have either a Np 435 manual tranny, or a 727 auto, and a 203 full time transfer case.

hy_desert_4wheeler 10-14-2002, 04:04 PM Automatic would be the A727 manual 4spd would be the NP435 manual 3spd would be the A390.. The T-case would be the NP203 full time with dana44 front axle and corporate 9.25 rear axle with 3.21 gears.. The lug pattern would be 5X4.5 which is the same as 2wd trucks and cars from the mid 60's and maybe earlier till 84.
WILL@offroad.com 10-15-2002, 09:15 AM Or the rear might be an 8-3/8? I have a '78 1/2 ton with the custom package. It has the 318/727/203. The front is the full-time dana 44 but the rear is not a 9-1/4". It is 5x4.5 wheel pattern too.
GRMhick 10-15-2002, 10:55 AM if it isnt a 9.25", it woudl be a 8.25", same as what is in some of the newer jeep cherokee's. Some people say it is weak, but i ran one in my old 2wd and never had a problem. and the gears are normally 3.21 or 3.55 for small blcoks, with a few 3.90 thrown in. Also, this wheel pattern went on till 80.5, not 84.. 80.5 till 84 recieved a dana 44 with 5 on 5.5, locking hubs, and thw whole 9 yards, while in 85 dodge went to a CAD front axle.

Hey dipshit read the post correctly before you start trying to correct someone.. And even then when you try to correct someone you should have correct information.. In my post I said 2wd trucks and cars till 84 NOT 4X4 TRUCKS.. IN 4X4'S THE 5 ON 4 1/2 WAS ONLY USED WITH THE FULLTIME CASES WHICH WAS FROM 75 TO 79.. Below is a quote from my original post which specifically states "2WD TRUCKS AND CARS TILL 84" SO GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE YOU TRY TO CORRECT SOMEONE..

GRMhick 10-15-2002, 04:20 PM I apoligise. I thought we were talkign about 4x4's here, and i didnt see the little 2wd at the end.. i thought you only ment about 2wd cars.. not 2wd trucks, so my bad, but other than that, i DO NOT appreciate being abused in this fashion. so FUCK OFF

He said it originally had a 318 but he swapped in a 360. Thanks for all the info. Where on the axle can i tell what the rear is for sure. It has no tag.
