: Beadlocks on a daily driver?

Does anyone run beadlocks on their Jeep that is their daily driver?

If so are there any pre-cautions or things you need to check on a regular basis?

What did you use to balance them (beads, etc)?

I am looking at putting a set on my YJ. You could consider it a daily driver as I usually drive it to work (25 miles one way 65mph) at least 2x week or more.

Anyone with comments on why I shouldn't I would like to hear them as well.

a quick search will give you all the info you want. The only locks I would run on the street are Stauns

It's not my primary mode of transportation, but it sees a lot of road time.

Yes, be sure to loctite your bolts and check them frequently.

8 oz of airsoft beads per tire for 33's. Runs as smooth as my previous wheel and tire combo.

Comments for why you shouldn't? If you go with steel beadlocks they are heavy. That's the only downside I've found so far.

Ran aluminum trail readys on a full size ford for about a year on grooved 35's. No balancing at all, only felt a little wobble at 50-55ish but thats it. Lock tight and nylon locking nuts never came loose and never lost air pressure.

I was leaning towards the Trail ready Aluminum. I will defintely use the loctite, great advice.

I put a set of Allied Rockmonster's (35" MT/Rs) on my TJ about 3 weeks ago and I run it as a DD. I only travel about 14 miles round trip each day to work and home. I didnt get them balanced either and they run nice and true even at about 70 mph. I was driving down the frontage road with no hands on the wheel at 45 mphs for 2/10s of a mile before my heep started to drift slightly to the left.

So far I have no issues with them.

I'm running that same wheel on my '09 JK Unlimited Rubicon. It's a DD, although I only run it about 4 miles roundtrip to work 5 days a week.

I haven't balanced them with anything. Didn't locktite the bolts either, but I check them regularly and they've never even started to work loose.

If you're concerned about safety get some Rock Monsters. They are DOT approved and a dual beadlock.

Having said that... I ran trail ready's on the street and never had a problem. Just keep your bolts tight.

I run Allied steel beadlocks(Daytona style) and have no problems whatsoever. I run 14oz of BBs in them and check the bolt torque every week or two. I've put around 1000 road miles on them with no problems. Now it's parked until I can make it offroadable:(

Yup. A guy in our club runs those and drives it on the street all the time
at speeds up to 70mph with no problems.

I run a set of Stauns as well, 15x10 with 37s. Very easy to balance in my opinion too.
